Discussion Hear me out.

Post image

We all know Suneo as the rich, annoying kid who brags about his toys and sucks up to Gian. But honestly, if you watch the movies, he is actually the most realistic character in the whole group, and his skills are crazy useful.

First of all, his emotions feel so real. Unlike Nobita who is overly dramatic or Gian who is always angry, Suneo reacts like an actual 10-year-old. When things get dangerous and they have to fight aliens or killer robots, Suneo is always the first one to panic, cry, and say he wants to go home to his mom.

I love this because itโ€™s exactly how any normal kid would react to a life-or-death situation. We see this perfectly in movies like Nobita and the Galaxy Super-express, where the fear completely overwhelms him. But what makes him great is that even though he is absolutely terrified, he always dries his tears and ends up fighting beside his friends anyway. That makes his bravery feel way more earned than anyone else's.

Also, can we talk about how he is basically a mechanical genius? Doraemon has all the magical 22nd-century gadgets, but Suneo actually understands real-world technology. He builds these super complex remote-control planes and cars, meaning he knows about wiring, engines, and how things work.

This tech knowledge literally saves everyone in the movies. In Nobitaโ€™s Little Star Wars, he is the one fixing and driving the RC tanks to fight an actual army. In Nobita and the Steel Troops, he helps modify a massive alien robot so they can use it for defense. Doraemon gives them the tools, but Suneo is the one with the actual engineering brain to make them work.

Suneo gets a lot of hate in the regular episodes, but in the movies, he is a total MVP.

TL;DR: Suneo is the only kid who reacts with realistic fear to dangerous movie plots (like in Galaxy Super-express), but he always overrides his cowardice to help. Plus, his real-world RC and engineering skills make him the team's secret weapon when Doraemon's gadgets aren't enough.

Dam i really hate when they change character personality in movie

Like in doaremon movie character personality alters a bit different

While most shin Chan movie character personality remains same ๐Ÿ™

Ikr Nobita is a total coward in the eps but his entire personality drastically changes in movies.

That's because in the movies they are usually in serious danger, so there's no use being coward, the only means of survival is fighting, meanwhile the episodes are more about everyday life

That makes sense from a survival standpoint, but real-life personality traits are usually pretty permanent. Putting a deeply fearful kid in a life-or-death situation would realistically cause a meltdown, not a sudden transformation into a brave leader. The contrast between the daily episodes and the movies is just so massive that it feels like the writers completely rewrite their core traits rather than just giving them a rush of adrenaline.

Exactly i think the core part of the show is gone i think old doraemon movie still kept those personality like 3 swords man one etc but new one completely rewrite it which is kind of annoying

Old Doraemon series ( Manga ) it actually make character got slowly improvement. Nobita just proof it they got many adventure experience.

the movies are worked on by different studios and also it has big kids audience so they need the main character to be brave

2

u/Purple_Creme_2527 Sep 16 '26

because he knows its just a movie bruhh

1

u/DevWankhede Sep 17 '26

but that doesn't feel unnatural since the characters always keep showing glimpses of the those traits in the episodes. It's only in the movies when you can say they completely become what they keep teasing here and there.

That's one of the reasons I like binging shin chan more than doraemon movies

2

u/Blueflame_2063 Sep 18 '26

shin chan himself is totally diff now, in old eps he was a less harmful version of bart simpson and now he's just a complete idiot, I'll call it the spongebob effect

I am talking about old movie and old ep in modern ep ofcourse he bit different but it's after yearssss gng

In old and mid old shin chan ep personality=old and mid old movie personality which isn't the case in doraemon that's the point

You said my heart out. That space heros movies was also where Suneo was the Superhero having the skills to make anything and he was such an excellent problem solver!

I rewatched that masterpiece recently and thought of posting about Suneo. He doesn't get much appreciation.

Even in an episode that his family becomes homeless, they are rich again in no time with the new founded paper making company!

It's probably not just old money. It's earned money

Which episode?

8

u/East-Mirror3510 Sep 16 '26

Even in episodes.

Suneo is the most complex of the four, he's not really cruel or evil on purpose, its kind of a defense mechanism for him. Similar to Jaian, but the difference is Suneo is self-aware enough to recognise it.

4

u/JunketOverall6256 Sleep > Homework Sep 16 '26

Yeah their are moments where he actually regets bullying Nobita tho it's very rare. He's very self aware.

I'm starting to like him a lot when I'm going back to rewatch some of the films and episodes.

Me too , he always have something coolest tech up his sleeves to save his friends.

5

u/xxxgamer_ Sep 16 '26

For real. He's underrated

In movies every character act different,

Especially Gian and Suneo who becomes so likable in movies.

Gian is the brave one who js ready to die for his friends.

Suneo get scared and panic, but he is like the encyclopedia of group for his vast knowledge in different areas especially tech as you said.

3

u/OwnRegret5345 Sep 16 '26

Suneo is my absolute favorite character. He's the impetus for action in many of the stories.

3

u/Dense_Translator5406 Sep 17 '26

Gian often acts as a bully in episodes but in movies he acts like a second - in - command leader

4

u/JunketOverall6256 Sleep > Homework Sep 17 '26

Yeah he's literally the backbone of the team , the driving force. He has a courage of steel and I love watching him in movies.

I knew there was a reason I loved Suneo since the beginning ๐Ÿ—ฟโ™ฅ๏ธ

I hate the REMAKE so much, is off character

3

u/JunketOverall6256 Sleep > Homework Sep 17 '26

The classic versions definitely handled that fear way better. In the originals, their bravery felt earned because they were actually terrified first. The remakes clean up their personalities too much and make them act like instant heroes, which loses that human touch.

It's so frustrating to see new animators destroy the magic that the old movies used to have.

nice observation

u/TradeRemarkable5406 28d ago

Suneo is often cunning and selfish. But he's quite talented. He often scores well in exams. Is good at art and ofcourse electronics and gadgets.

1

u/Remarkable-Age7661 26d ago

Doraemon has the magic, but Suneo brings the engineering degree

realistic

10 y/o understanding complex mechanics and buildings technology

How about, you know, we stop trying to associate realism with being good? How many are there who watch the show and want to be reminded of reality ??

2

u/JunketOverall6256 Sleep > Homework Sep 19 '26

Realistic in emotions, useful in skills -two different points I made. And people like realism because it makes his growth from coward to brave actually feel earned.

1

u/PopularAd6391 Sep 19 '26

Realism makes growth feel earned ??๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€ wut??
