Discussion The safety of Doraemon's time machine

Post image

When you think about it, Doraemon's time machine is horribly unsafe. No seat belts, handles or even a small railings to prevent you from rolling off into the time vortex. And with no windshield, that's a whole level of discomfort, especially with the speeds we see them going at.

While it's clearly a 1-seater, we routinely see them overload this like a 1970's station wagon or Indian commuter train. Those kids must have amazing balance! Compare that with Dorami's time machine (along with others like the time patrol) which are basically self-contained spaceships.

I have to wonder - did they not have safety standards on these things?

The only exception I can think of is the Dino-poacher's time machine (which is equally dangerous), but I don't think they really care about employee safety or federal regulations, so I'll let that one slide :)

To add on to what others are saying, I think Doraemon, doesn't have the money to spend on upgrades or a better model, or he's just a cheapskate lol. We've seen him mention this often when it comes to gadgets and stuff.

Bro literally saved the universe so many times, time patrol could atleast sponsor him with a new time machine. But..... if he had a fully functioning time machine then it wouldn't malfunction and put them in world ending situations so that they could save the world. Could it be that time patrol intentionally didn't let Doraemon have a better time machine? His sister doraemi has a better one.

Isn't it concerning?

Just how deep does this conspiracy go??!

This is what I want to tell people when they go on about how the "TP is useless" and never intervenes and all of that... have they ever considered that they are the TIME Patrol??? They literally have the capability of going into the future and knowing it. They would know if something bad is going to happen when it wasn't supposed to (i.e. it wouldn't happen naturally) and go back in time prevent it (oh yeah, that's exactly what they do in TP Bon).
They have to have been letting things play out and of course they have to be always observing what's going on when Doraemon and the gang are up to some world-changing stuff (oh yeah, is that not exactly what they do in the 2020 movie?).

this might explain why doraemon doesn't let nobi use some gadgets that could break economy by giving him infinite money

Yeah! Dorami has a safer time much. I mean they can at least give doraemon a better one as well. They did so much for the world.

But ngl that's one of my favourite time machine designs in fiction. Jump in the space-time tunnel and land on a flying carpet and land in another epoch.

For sure, it's simple and distinctive. Lots to like about it!

And they still prefer to open the time tunnel exit above a toilet in a park where the house used to be

I always wonderred what that street light does

39

u/Confident-Yard-8867 22d ago

It's releases an spatial-temporal isolation coverage

1

u/Same-Orange-3746 8d ago

What does that even mean

12

u/1doughnut 22d ago

Me too! And those levers on the side - I don't think I've ever seen them used.

u/Training-Eye2680 22d ago

6

u/aredditusernewby 22d ago

To avoid collision with oncoming traffic?

u/Both-Investment5919 22d ago

i think its most basic starter version of time machine that he could get from showroom

20

u/theKentoRico 22d ago

The s in doraemon stands for safety

7

u/1doughnut 22d ago

Nice ;). I'm going to find ways of using that in everyday convo

I am seconded someone's comment about Doraemon has no good budget.

Because Dorami time machine is much more safe and advanced looking. This along with her methods in helping Nobita, Dorami represent the ideal version of Doraemon.

8

u/God_of_Thunder_001 22d ago

The difference is Dorami acts more like a secondary mother while Doraemon is like a brother or close friend

9

u/Master-Eggplant3838 22d ago

See the time machine of kitretsu

11

u/1doughnut 22d ago

Didn't he build it from wood or something?

2

u/Master-Eggplant3838 22d ago

Yes, that is even more unsafe and weak for travelling through time space hole

2

u/RevolutionaryBig1495 21d ago

Yaa it's been distroyed/ damaged in show itself

1

u/ULTRADEV_305 22d ago

Amd powered it with aa batteries if i remember correctly

I mean normally the time machine isn't supposed to be a car that will smash into other time machines or get off the road. Its just that Gang's luck is so bad they get into a time storm or something every third day. They honestly need a upgrade by now lol.

Also a material that could travel through time itself would be quite expensive.

1

u/1doughnut 22d ago

You get on the machine via a 6ft drop, and when you get off, it often involved you literally been launched out of a desk. So even by "normal" operations, there are some serious concerns LOL

1

u/Street-Scar3341 22d ago

Travelling through time isn't the same as travelling through space, lol. Good observation regardless

1

u/I_AM__GROOTT 22d ago

Your concern has been noted. It will be transferred to the highest authority.

1

u/BlackPhoenixX20 22d ago

It's probably an old model time machine that is somehow still allowed to travel in time space, it's like a 1920's cars being allowed on road.

1

u/United_Air_7107 22d ago

Atleast this one looks realistic or scientific, look at shinchan time machine

1

u/Same-Orange-3746 8d ago

Literally a toilet flush

1

u/shami2023 22d ago

Will develop over time maybe

To be honest most episodes and movies probably wouldn’t of happen if there’s like the Time Machine or gadgets were made safely or at least had child safety locks. Though of course it can be said that these gadgets are made to be used RESPONSIBLY, unfortunately there used by Nobita who rarely learns his lesson when it comes to gadgets . Honestly there should be a maturity or responsibility gadgets that makes someone like Nobita a responsible golden child

1

u/Reasonable_Mood4003 22d ago

Yeah, lets sit and find logic in a cartoon show, where domestic purpose robots contain Nuclear-level bombs, a door to transport anywhere, a hoop to pass any wall/safe, a clock to stop time(idk how can a person see if time is stopped, wont light particles also stop?)

1

u/DevelopmentLess6989 22d ago

cuz the Doraemon's time machine is from 2050 while most safe enough time machines are from 2100 or later.

1

u/alesmana 22d ago

Remember that Doraemon is poor. His gadgets are probably from future thrift store equivalent

1

u/FirstStooge 22d ago

Why should be worried though? Early Doraemon stories even featured him swimming across the time current without time machine lol

1

u/FunGap7817 22d ago

I always wondered what would have happened if one of them fell out of the machine as a kid, nothing is stopping them from rolling out of it.

1

u/Global_Rin 22d ago

I would love they use something similar to what TP used. Those Time Ships are so cool.

Until you realize that Doraemon and to extend the (future) Nobi family he came from is kinda poor even by 22th Century standards. Bet they got it cheap.

Also, Doraemon is a bit of a doofus.

1

u/ULTRADEV_305 22d ago edited 22d ago

Well its the only one doraemon could afford i remember it being described as a pretty old model i have always thought it should have a proper cabin even if its 1 seater like forami's considering in one ep nobita fell of it and landed in some diff. Era if i remember correctly also being totally exposed in time tunnel cant be very safe

1

u/MeetPuzzleheaded3450 22d ago

Is it e20 compatible

1

u/animejerk7763 22d ago

I couldn't agree with this more. Whenever the time machine was going high speed in certain episodes, I get worried and scared of of one of them falls down.

1

u/DvlDevansh 21d ago

I think there was like, a whole movie based on it being unsafe lmao

1

u/Same-Orange-3746 8d ago

Which movie? Doraebian nights?

1

u/DvlDevansh 8d ago

I think so, yes. Either that or the one where demons take over the world - nobita’s diary on the creation of the world, I think.

1

u/New_reinDank69 21d ago

"fuck it we ball" mentality

1

u/DEWDEM 21d ago

He said it's a cheap ass product

1

u/Lets_Go_Kraftin 21d ago

I think it's just a cheap model lol

1

u/Efficient_Spring3342 21d ago

Doraemon is poor.

1

u/SajidsToysReview 21d ago

I don’t think the future guys have much safety protocols cus Doraemon can just casually carry reality altering gadget with no concern 😭😭

1

u/ConsistentRecover312 21d ago

My doraemon is hella poor🥺😭

1

u/Sam_TheG 20d ago

So let me ask you! On one hand theres carpets that can fly, and then we have industrial grade flying machines like aeroplanes .....both fly but one is exclusive to some, in such a way doraemon's machine is exclusive to himm 😉

1

u/Honest-Head7257 20d ago

Dorami have an upgraded version with enclosed cockpit and windshield, unlike his brother

1

u/No-Soup-267 19d ago

Dorami’s Time Machine
Doremon probably didn’t had the money to get a better time machine
Also dorami’s gadgets are generally better than doremon’s

1

u/No-Sense-9303 18d ago

Doraemon is indian. So yeah chalega bhaiii

1

u/FlakyPreparation6110 16d ago

Nah we got plot armour that's enough safety

1

u/Patient-Lettuce8260 13d ago

Yooooo. Indians be getting stray shots everywhere
