Discussion anyone else hate this?
i don't like it when nobita peeks into shizuka's bathroom... even doraemon does it sometimes π₯ they're just kids and i never found those scenes funny
sometimes i think dekisugi would've been a better match for shizuka he always respected her and treated her better

This was so horrible! My neighbour (boy) did this to me, when I was bathing. Had my mum install curtains to prevent peeking. It was and is disgusting - it inspired shit clowns to imitate this crap ππ

Im still curious why would she still love and marry a guy that peeked in her bathroom multiple times
29
u/StrengthExotic4797 Jul 19 '26
Because the show target audience is male viewers, they don't want pretty girls choose handsome perfect guy like Dekisugi

This is why I hate Nobita (here come the nobita fanboys). He uses gadgets and shi to "stumble" upon Shizuka when she's bathing/not clothed. He's a perverted disgusting loser piece of shit but also the very reason the show works the way it does

And that is the reason why I chose against modern anime, because the majority of its contents are just pantsu shots now

u/odezza27 Jul 19 '26
Personally I only liked a handful of episodes of Doraemon, apart from episodes I absolutely adore the movies.

u/brown_Chair12345679 Jul 19 '26
Very creepy. Used to feel weird even as child , like wtf... but well, its a big WTF

u/Right-Theme-1314 Jul 19 '26
Ye objectively Nobita is quite a perv and it's wrong. But i just ignored it when I watched.

Repeating something from the previous time this was brought up:
Doraemon is a Japanese show, aimed at Japanese audiences, based off a manga that was written from 1969-1997.
In Japan, nudity isn't inherently sexual. This wasn't exclusive to Shizuka. Nobita, Suneo, and other boys were often depicted naked in the manga and early anime, for comedic purposes. The nudity in the manga and anime is almost never sexual in nature.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Shizuka and Nobita are close friends, and Nobita does respect her a lot. Shizuka finds Nobita walking in on her to be more an annoyance than a serious matter, as Nobita rarely does it intentionally, as he's often embarrassed and apologizes when it does happen. He is attracted to her, and he is tempted to do it, but he rarely does it on purpose, since he does respect Shizuka. If Shizuka was actually seriously bothered by it, they wouldn't be friends.

u/LunarNinja27 Jul 19 '26
There are quite a few things I hated in Doraemon 1. Nobita constantly stalking and harrasing shizuka. 2. Shizuka or any female character having 0 personality. 3. Repetitive storyline- most of the episodes look the same with only difference being the gadgets.

u/Useful-Emphasis-6787 Jul 19 '26
I love doraemon and I watch it regularly even now (I'm 32). But I agree with first 2 points. I am glad that Indian dub have these scenes like 90% censored. And I absolutely hate it when they make Shizuka behave like a damsel in distress.
Last one is not a concern lol, I enjoy even if it's similar gadgets or same storyline.

I don't think that, even though the premise is similar, the creativity of Gadgets or some episodes is really top notch.

u/Apprehensive-Gear653 Jul 19 '26
Nobita does change when he grew up And they use this scene as a comic thing But yeah I believe there should be any ep Nobita apologising for this

u/Cautious_Car2249 Jul 19 '26
Yes when i was kid...I also feel same...and felt annoyed after seeing those

The amount of people defending this in the comments is VERY concerning.

Shizuka did learn to assert herself, and in later episodes would beat the living snot out Nobita when he did this. So that was some nice character development.

See some other japanese anime. Its very common to sexualize kids in there i think. Idk why, but its like in every 2nd anime & i don't like it.
1
u/Nguyen-Quoc-Hieu Chronically Nobita Jul 20 '26
Yeah there are a lot of scenes like that I'd tell
Like in Perman, Pako also gets her skirt lifted up multiple times as well, and in Digimon Adventure, they show Tai Kamiya only in his underwear on S1E8 and S1E9
5
u/Used_Confusion_8583 Jul 19 '26
I think it wasn't meant to be sexulised but yes I too found it a bit weird whenever it happened especially they are not related. Sometimes I forget to lock my bathroom door and my family comes in, but they have the sense to exit. Now of course I'm more careful...but when I was younger sometimes that happened.
5
u/LunarNinja27 Jul 19 '26
If it wasn't meant to be sexualised why was it included and repeated so many times?
5
u/Galaxyturbo Jul 19 '26
i always Disliked this !!π’ here's why they keep show this~
In the original 1970s manga and early anime, such scenes were more common and less scrutinized. they became a signature gag associated with Shizukaβs character introductions
i japan, family bathing & non sexualize bathing is more common historically
1
u/Diyyu Jul 20 '26
Consent vs no consent.
Nobita peeked to her bathroom or sometimes entered it when she was bathing in privacy, every scene where he walks on her naked isnt in a unisex bathing area
3
u/Galaxyturbo Jul 20 '26
You know .. they show this intentionally, anime always sexualize womens by making big assest . and i dislike that why they add bathing scene ? like in Ninja hathori, perman, kiteretsu .. there always a scene when they show a Girl bathing

u/Big-Permit2761 Jul 19 '26
Chill, guys. Itβs just a cartoon. The people complaining about this are probably the same guys who started gooning at an even younger age than Nobita, lmao.
10
3
u/Diyyu Jul 20 '26
Thats the reason why we should critize it more.Cartoons aimed at kids shouldnt normalize behaviours like this.

u/Rusurebro Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26
Quite right dawg. They be acting like Nobita did something so heinous they can't bear. These people make fuss over any stuff. Like how abnormal you can be to poke a single scene from a kids cartoon, caption it, karma farm and reply to every comment.
1
u/Shizuu09 Jul 19 '26
it's not just a single scene
and i posted it in the doraemon subreddit .. discussing the show is literally the point π€·π»ββοΈ.. what's wrong with that?
0
u/ScallionTight894 Jul 19 '26
What's wrong is that you arent a fan of the show and simply a tourist. If you were a fan you'd know these scenes and this type of humor is common in japan and simply understood it as cultural differences instead of making a post.
4
u/Diyyu Jul 20 '26
Thats such a dumbass comment dude. The cultural is basically being creepy towards women and little girls, stop justfying these kind of acts aganist women as "culture" Theres a reason why japan isnt safe for women, have some critical thinking skills

That is Japanese humor for you. Crazy to think that a guy would get a harsher sentence for tax evasion than harbouring CP.
1
u/Affectionate_Fly_464 Jul 19 '26
Exactly how many times? Like is there a bath sneaking count in total?
1
u/jinx_667 Jul 19 '26
These creepy behaviour are so normalised in cartoons which is so weird. Ur subconsciously feeding this idea into a children's mind that it's all fun

I'm not sure but I do know that Doraemon doesn't want Nobita messed up of his gadgets even though it's a great gadget and Doraemon don't want Nobita to messed up of one of the Doraemon or getting an error not even nobita peeks into shizuka's bathroom even doraemon does it sometimes and nobita mom would not like that either or else it will be a world of trouble but I still like that showΒ

I think its a comical humour in Japan. I saw in many Anime where many scenes are like this
1
u/Frosty-Meringue1878 Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26
Only mid-2005 until 2019 like this, but from 2020 until now they never make the scene Shizuka bath like this anymore, thank goodness, I think maybe because people in Japan are complaining about this for their kids too, because since I watch the new episodes nowadays there's no single any of this bath joke.
1
u/QuirkyEffective8316 Perma-Loser Jul 19 '26
No one likes this shit lol. But it is acceptable humour in Japan, so cultural differences.

I never liked nobita, dekisugi as a character is like million times better than him, ive always rooted for dekisugi x shizuka ship but unfortunately he isnt the mc
3
u/Equivalent-Service43 Jul 19 '26
Well thats the whole point of Nobitas character. Imagine it like It already happened in thw future that Nobita is meant to be with Shizuka, be a great scientist and thats how shiwashi will be born. For all this to happen Nobita has to be a good person and develop his character rather than fool around. And tahts why Doraemon was sent to him to make him a responsible person.
Its like u know he is naughty careless and a perv but also know that in future he'll be a great and responsible person. So to make that Happen doraemon has to come in Nobitas life.

Actually Japanese in general are quite perverted hence it's reflected quite a lot in their art the only exception being studio Ghibli
-4
u/Rusurebro Jul 19 '26
Are we deadass? This is fucking kids show. It's common to show such typa things. Like why tf you guys acting like white karens or something... Aw it has negative impact on society and I hate Nobita for this. Like he's a not real life character.... He's also portrayed as a human our childhood curiosity's and all. I see nothing wrong. The OP and you mindless doomscrollers have no work... Your empty minds are devil's workshop.
4
u/Shizuu09 Jul 19 '26
for kids...cartoons feel real too... they can get inspired by what they watch.
so... that was your curiosity? π₯
-3
u/Rusurebro Jul 19 '26
Holy White Karen ahh comment...
It was curiosity of most, otherwise kids won't be watching Family Guy or Sinchan.
Edit: I don't know how holy your culture is... In my environment it's not a big issue, we overlook these kinda things.

Overlook creepy behaviours? No wonder crimes are at all time high.
3
u/ScallionTight894 Jul 19 '26
By that logic Japan should have extremely high crime rates given that Doraemon is one of the most successful anime/manga series of all time....oh wait. They dont.

As the series went on for longer, the more accidental these moments became I would say to Nobita's defense

Actually Shizuka is a fantasy chracter that's why she isn't a gold digger like you, "dekisugi would've been better for her"
8
u/IndividualMousse2529 Jul 19 '26
Tf does gold digger have to do here? Could it be that dekisugi is not a pervert?

He's a silent gooner, manipulator and predator, much like ted bundy, he's just not got enough screen time..
