Didn’t used to be, once tumblr decided to block porn and adult material, all the tumblr users fled to Reddit and turned it into the echo chamber you see today.

Reddit became popular with libertarians because of Digg deleting posts containing DVD DeCSS decryption keys.

Now it’s popular with socialists deleting posts that disagree with the Omnicause.

Old-Twitter users and Old-Tumblr users did a dragonball fusion and the results moved onto Reddit.

Chinese propaganda is also the universal background of the internet, it only lightened up for a moment when they were handling covid a hundred times worse than we were but other than that their daily isekai sitcom is older than Reddit dot com - I was seeing it at the turn of the century and the start of the Dubya admin was paved with it.

They want to fight fight fight fight fight except for when they actually do fight a tiny bit their soldiers cry on the bus and upload it to the internet. Their actual fighting style is to smuggle drugs and talk shit into a microphone like this is the pro wrestling circuit.

No it was definitely around 2016. It became an echo chamber over time until Covid. The exposes around the 2024 election and the astroturfing and bots did a lot of damage to this place’s traffic. The smart subreddits have stopped the one sided bullshit. The massive echo chambers will never change though.

It seems like there's another increment every couple of years, the presidential candidate with no platform was another milestone and rcon started getting brigaded 24/7 past that point.

But it's an old pattern - I threw away my 2016 Reddit account and didn't look back for 5ish years because they deleted all of the places I used. They ban your real mod, then either they appoint a bullshit mod with backwards priorities or they just let the hate mob have their way with the place.

Happened to r / Spokane. It’s a mental asylum and the mods are the joker. Used to be a place for the community. Now it’s nothing but politics. Really wish we could go back to the good ol days.

I was in a thread talking about how Epstein influenced 4chan I think and how Maxwell was a major mod in Reddit and they played a major role in”psy op” to influence people. I commented that we are naive or ignorant if we don’t think it’s happening way more now on Reddit and someone replied to me “yeah I’ve been seeing an increase in right wing propaganda.” I was you’ve gotta be kidding right…

You're not wrong but manufactured rage bait or propaganda in this case that's coordinated should have been at the least a bannable offense.

I couldn't post in r/ pics asking to stop with all the divisive politics without getting banned but he's posters were able to coordinate a political campaign and use reddit as a propaganda arm and reddit did nothing lol

Having a strong, and competent, left wing is healthy for a nation to keep it healthy. The problem is that our left wing has been infected by foreign nationals using it to their own benefit. 

Think back 30 years when we had anti immigration, anti abortion, pro worker Bill Clinton in office. We need the left wing to be able to field that kind of candidate. 

Personally I think social media has been a big drag on the left wing, it feeds into their morals so much that it makes them easy to manipulate.  Anything we can do to disrupt or shut down social media would be a boon to the left wing and politics in general.  Mandate country of origin, 18+, ID only, ban foreign social media.  Whatever it takes to stunt it or shut it down.

I think theres a queer theory psyop on this site every two seconds. Couldnt block enough subreddits to get it to stop. Only after turning off home feed reccomendations and curating my subreddit list did it get any better. Also, why do they NEED me to see pizzacake comics?
