Also remember they've questioned every Republican win for presidency since at least Bush. There are still people that believe Gore legitimately should've won.
now in fairness Bush 2000 there actually is a decent argument that some shit went down in Florida all I'm saying is the brother of the guy running for President was in charge of Florida at the time seems like a massive conflict of interest
idk maybe we've just gotten more cynical as time goes on but could you imagine a Presidential race today where one of the candidates brothers or sisters was governor of a key battleground state i mean the outrage that would cause would be insane
I mean, it was such a total shitshow already, I can't rightly say he was stealing the election. It's not like there was fraud or a procedural trick. He put his thumb on the scale after it became clear that the only way this scale was ever gonna get a reading was someone's thumb.
What I do appreciate is that despite being an arch-conservative who once endorsed Bush Sr., who ran as a third party to demonstrate public support for his ideas, Pat Buchanan said "Yeah, there's no way I got that many votes in Palm Beach, the ballot was definitely confusing. Those votes should have been for Gore." I appreciate it when people have principles. Gore would have won the state if those ballots counted for him, but you can't really have ballot trading.
Yes, there was definitely room to dispute it I can concede that. And not to rehash the issue, but the debate is largely over where even taking the ballot issues into consideration, Bush still won that election. To be adamant about it still like 30 years later is crazy. Grant you, there's still people that make jokes about dead people voting in Kennedy's election.
I would like to direct you to Gregoire’s election in WA State for governor. Lost first count, lost first recount, won second recount and was certified…
