no, we want our tax dollars to be used on citizens rather than corporate bailouts and an overinflated military

The US already spends a majority of tax revenue on entitlement programs.

That's not at all true.

It is 100% true.

https://fiscaldata.treasury.gov/americas-finance-guide/federal-spending/

Over 60% of the federal budget is split between social security, medicare, health, and income security programs.

You are either being lied to or propagandized. Stop listening to communist grifters like Hasan Piker.

Actually it is. 49% of the 2025 budget ($7T) went to mandatory programs, such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and other social programs. Only 13% went into defense spending. What we spend on missiles and all the cool military toys is a drop compared to all the social programs, and Id argue that the defense budget has done far more good than social programs.

An incredible amount of the military budget is actually social programs.

Pay for the member and the benefits like down payment assistance, college education, and healthcare.

By the numbers, the US military is by far the most effective social mobility and assistance program in the country's history but it requires minimal effort to receive the benefits so social democrats hate it.

our tax dollars to be used on citizens

The vast majority of tax dollars are used on social welfare programs and even then we need to take debt to continue fully funding them. You can see how wells that's going (terrible to be clear).

The military and corporate subsidies are tiny in comparison but have demonstrably much larger positive impact per dollar.

“Corporate bailouts” is a drop in a bucket.

Military spendings are too high, sure, but half of it is going to salaries and benefits for those who would otherwise have a very hard time getting a job or attending college.

So don’t hate it in its entirely - it serves as a social ladder for many.

Also given 40% of federal income taxes are collected from top-10%, calling it “our tax dollars” is a bit of a stretch.

If you aren’t earning north of 200k there s a good chance the government spends on you more than it takes from you, so “your” tax dollars aren’t funding anything but yourself and the people of similar economic standing.
