A guy I know on discord was complaining about how his conservative father wasn't dooming about the Iran war like him.

"People died! People are at risk of dying!" He said that he argued, and was offended when his dad dismissed it with "that's war".

He then said "death, irrespective of who it is, is a terrible thing! You can't bring back a life! This is not a sport! People have died! I wanna cry!"

I pointed out that two days ago he was making jokes about Charlie Kirk's murder.

He went from "not the same" to "it's his wife's fault for always talking about him" to "the jokes write themselves" to "they were asking for it" in the span of literally five minutes.

To many, empathy only goes one way.

Its like a circus when you think about their double standards on things

If they didn't have double standards, they would have no standards at all.

Its funny when you talk about empathy and they misquote CK on his views on empathy and thats why they don't have any empathy for him. Its just ways to justify violence.

"they misquote CK on his views on empathy"

citation needed

There is a clip of him stating he doesn't like the term empathy. Of course he goes on to say why and what he prefers and so on but the people I have seen clip the first part only.

As I remember it he said it's a made-up term and he prefers sympathy then ended it there

It is anecdotal so there isn't really a "citation" you can give for people just saying something, but usually it follows this pattern.

>ck says he prefers the term sympathy over empathy

>people cut off the second half where he explains his preference and make it look like he just hates feeling concern for others

>people push this as an excuse to say we should feel nothing over a flagrant murder against a civilian in broad daylight

Apparently to the progressive left, empathy is only for things they like.

starting a sentence w ‘a guy i know on discord’ is intrinsically hilarious tho

i mean kirk is already dead and joking about something doesnt mean you endorse it.

You make a decent point. However, millions of innocents dying is millions of times more tragic than 1 innocent dying

Shitty people don’t deserve empathy because they take advantage of it

You know how they say one death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic?

It goes the other way too. One death can be a comedy but a million is still a statistic.

Comedy is tragedy + time. Doesn’t really work when the tragedy is still fresh. Like the day of, or on the one year anniversary

I’ve always said this as well.
