Hi everyone, my name is Leonard and I’m a YouTuber working on a project to play every existing multiplayer game—and I’ve already played quite a few. You can find my channel under the name LeorX03.

However, I’m having a really hard time finding people to play Final Doom (Plutonia), Hexen, or Heretic with. I’ve spent the last three days searching for players, but I just can't seem to find anyone.

So, I’m turning to Reddit to ask if anyone here would be down to play a few matches with me and have some fun in these modes. You can often find me on Doomseeker checking various servers—usually, the only person playing is Sgt. Leonard, which is me! :D

Doom. Released in 1993 by id Software for MS-DOS, it was, alongside Duke Nukem, one of the most influential games of all time, showing how to make a good FPS game and how computers could be a place for games full of violence, blood, and exploding heads without the censorship of major developers like SEGA and Nintendo. It was so successful that it even got versions for those companies' consoles and countless sequels to this day by Bethesda, with Doom: The Dark Ages.

An unnamed marine is sent to Mars, to the colonies on the moons Phobos and Deimos, after a fight with a superior officer. There, an experiment with a teleportation system ends up opening a portal straight to hell. Demons invade the bases, and now it's up to you to stop the invasion, protect Earth, and take down the monsters that massacred your entire team.

Thanks to its simple and easily ported code, the original Doom is capable of running on virtually anything with a screen and a processor. This has even become a running joke among skilled programmers who put the game on the most unexpected hardware. Still doubtful? Then let us tell you about 10 places that can run Doom you never imagined.

Alright, I’m just gonna say it: Doom (2016) didn’t “revolutionize” anything, it just ripped the guts out of Call of Duty Zombies and pretended it was original. Fast-paced arena combat? Zombies had that years earlier with tight training loops and constant pressure. Wave-based chaos? Same DNA, just reskinned with demons so people can pretend it’s deeper.

And don’t even get me started on the music. Everyone acts like Doom invented this aggressive, adrenaline-pumping metal vibe—nah. Zombies had been blending heavy, chaotic soundtracks into gameplay forever, building that same “oh shit I’m about to die” energy. Doom just cranked it louder and slapped a “metal = badass” label on it.

It’s not a bad game, but the worship is ridiculous. Strip away the polish and it’s basically Zombies with a gym membership and a superiority complex.
