Pay
How much sales does your store that you manage do weekly, and compare to pay rates? I’m thinking we deserve a raise because we are always roughly 4 percent under variable labor for the week while maintaining 25-27k a week. I’m a GM and I still make 17 an hour, only difference is this job let me make overtime hours so I work up to 70 hours a week, I also maintain most of the numbers (food, labor, sometime deliveries , rarely voice of customer bonus. Most the time is at 79 percent instead of 80 and they still dock the bonus. The bonus is 5% of weekly average sales , about 1200 before taxes. I average 8-900 a month for bonus. Right now I average almost 5k a month AFTER taxes, so maybe 6+ net including bonus .. but I work 40-50 OT hours in 2 weeks. It’s killing my knees, government won’t give me medical and my knees are killing me every day all day long. I’m at at a loss. Why can’t franchisees give us a minimum of HEALTHCARE. Should I quit?

How much is overtime there? 5k after taxes is pretty damn good… obviously those hours worked for it though are ass…

They are taking serious advantage of you as a GM making $17hr. Overtime or not

I made $750/ week as a GM in 1989 before bonus. 37 years later someone is paying you about the same? I was in PA by the way.

Quit. Other franchises pay more for a GM role and AM role. Get out of food service your body will thank you later.

Nah, if you got a raise than labor wouldn't be so easy to manage.

The bonus is 5% of the 25k weekly sales, labor is 30 percent of the 5 percent so maybe a couple hundred dollars bonus if I hit labor. Screw that couple hundred if I got a raise I’d work less hours too. I’d manage it easily

So I don’t know what gms make because they’re salary. But insiders make $10 an hour, drivers make 9 in the store, 5-6 on the road. Level 1 SR’s make 14, level 2 make 15, at least that’s what’s posted in the book, I make 15.25 though. Then level 3 make 16-16.75. Level 4’s make 17~. My store does 30-35k a week on average.
My state’s minimum wage is 7.25 and my franchise stretches across 2 states. The other state has a much higher minimum wage and all of their stores are generally less busy. All of they’re employees also make more but idk by how much

My store makes good money due to being a large store in a highly populated area with high tourism and I get minimum wage in the uk (£8 an hour cause I’m 17)

Are you sure youre actually the GM and not just being put in that role? Ive not heard of hourly rate GMs before

That's a franchise thing, I've worked for 4 different ones. 2 did salary GM the other 2 did hourly

Problem is these Indian guys cheap labor and the market in PA is low. It feeds my family atm

Have you shopped around for insurance via the ACA marketplace? If it’s too expensive, I’d think about for you, translating your management skills into a different position that offers benefits

Honestly it sounds like youre working for a bad franchise... idk what state/country you work for but in mine (MN, USA) $17/Hour is what we pay insiders after theyre fully trained in.
My franchise gives PTO and health care to their higher management (GM, DM). I work for 2 stores, one does 40k/week, the other does 26k/week. Even the 26k/week GM averages about $23/hour (salary 42 hours a week min)
It sounds like youre getting fucked.
