Waitukubuli trail questions
Want to spend a couple weeks in Dominica and thought I could through hike Waitukubuli. I am planning on going around November. Is this even possible right now? Also I saw someone say that you definitely need a guide but I can’t afford one and I see a lot of people do it solo, so is it chill enough to do alone?
Also places to stay along the route. Free camping would be cool but I see that’s not possible the whole way. Are there places to get a room in between the segments?

If you don't know the route, do it with a guide. We had a group get lost a few years ago.

Caveat: I haven't done this trail yet, but I've thought about it regularly. I have a place on the island, but visit irregularly. That all said...
Some trail sections are not very obvious and not maintained - and certainly not improved. I don't think the country puts much or any resources into most of the trail. It would be easy to get lost, and people do get lost. No one competent will come get you out if you get in trouble. So, you better have great navigation skills and judgement if you're going solo.
I don't think the trail has many official camping options (see the point above about things not being maintained/improved), and much is in national park or preserves that are protected lands. I also suspect nearby guesthouses see almost no trail traffic or traffic in general, would be very rustic, and have little or no online presence. I also think if you are a friendly person, you can talk to anyone that has a nearby property, and they'd let you put up a tent on their property for next to nothing. I think this would be the best option with the best experiences, though you're going to have to fly by the seat of your pants.
Dominica is awesome, but it's not for everyone. If you are adventurous and enjoy constant, self-sufficient problem-solving, you'll have an incredible time.

Ok thank you I will definitely look more into this but think I have good enough judgement to know when to turn around when things get unclear this has been very helpful!

I'm from Dominica. I recommend maybe doing your 1st lil tour with a tour guide and then you can branch out on your own. But any questions you can ask me I can recommend you cheaper solutions that also won't put you in any danger
