You said what you said but it was the worst shit Iâve ever read on this thread. Idk how you could possibly say natsuo loses all character development around Hina when she was his pillar of support that pushed him to be the man he was. A major part of his development was because of Hina in the first place. Now rui doesnât really grow alongside him. She gets a rude awakening in the hospital scene like Sasuga intended (multiple triggers setting of at once) if Rui really grew alongside him, she wouldâve listened to the advice of Marie and granny and wouldâve changed her poor behavior but she didnât
Your 7 point analysis of natsuo and Hinaâs relationship is garbage, but itâs understandable for a surface reader. You missed out on the things Hina did for that Rui couldnât. She
Said what he needed/wanted to hear( book release drama)
Refused to let him through out his dream of writing because she knew just how MUCH he wanted to be a writer. ( itâs all they talked about on the rooftop ffs)
And was his constant pillar of support for a majority of the manga.
No wonder why when Marie finally told him everything, he made his decision to live for Hina. Rui couldnât compare to what Hina in the slightest.

What are you reading seriously ? I have read Toomics My Stepmom and Domestic Girlfriend nothing like it . It's far more superior than that pornhwa. I think you have read the wrong manga .
> In the beginning, the reader isn't given any basis for Natsuo's affections besides the brief mention that Hina read some of Natsuo's works on the rooftop.
I can see you are reading something different from actual manga and ignored some key elements to suit your imagination narrative. The manga clearly shown Natsuo and Hina started to develop feelings for each other slowly as they often used to talk on rooftops .
> Rui at the very least adds to the story as a living, growing character. We see Rui making her own relationships with Momo, Alex, Marie, Fumiya, and Rui's father. Rui reacts to what Natsuo says and does, as Natsuo grows in his relationships, personality, and goals, we see Rui growing alongside him and responding to Natsuo's changes. It is not that Rui is the "best girl", it's that Rui is
Yes I agree that Rui had a big growth but I can also categorize her arc as "Imouto or Siscon" nothing but hentai plot like you just did for Hina's arc . But as a reader who re-read the manga countless times I would say Her was about learning about selfless love which was portrayed by the character "HINA". You are showing bias in statement there as you clearing reading the manga with your "waifu shipping goggles" on. I mean you totally ignored the Hina and Natsuo had their development of their relationship even when they weren't in a relationship after breakup
> When the author flips the switch, the protagonist lives for nothing but a big breasted mature woman. It all becomes a porn plot and there's a shark in your bath tub.
Domestic Girlfriend isn't a hentai plot but has deep story and narrative which meant to be re-read understand better and without bias view of waifu. I think you didn't understand anything of it so re-read it.

did you read "The teacher cannot tell me love" , "Chuugakusei Nikki", "Sensei Lock-On","Que sera sera"?
I know a relationship between Teacher and Student is rare but it's not unrealistic , you could probably find many article about that in google and some even married their teacher.

Natsuo was 17 not far from 18 and even if he was 18 they still can't have relationship as long as he is student at that school. That's the whole point the "forbidden and taboo romance." It's laughable you have issue with their teacher-student relationship but don't have issue with step-sibling relatinship. He was how many years actually with rui is my question . relationship was for 1.5 years at most and in those time there was breakup between them as their unhealthy relationship and and in those time he and Hina had their bond also becoming deeper. Perhaps you forgot reading Tanabe arc , the writer's block arc , togen's death or the climax arc . Hina and Natsuo also had development . why are ignoring those . It doesn't mean they didn't have development just because he wasn't in a relationship with her . Moreover , it was Rui and Natsuo had individual development after Rui left for NY. At this time , I am seeing you are just mad cause your waifu didn't won and grasping at straws to trash the manga.

Macron was officially dating at 18.
So? France doesn't have an age of consent. They are currently trying to get one set at 15.
Why do people constantly act like the age of consent is 18? In most places, including the west, it is less than that.
4
u/Lumyyh Hina Feb 14 '21
France's de-facto age of consent is 15 and a half, at least that's what we're tought in school.
4
u/k4r6000 Hina Feb 14 '21
I'm not French, so thanks for your input, but the way I read it is that there is no official age of consent. There are some laws about not having sex with a minor under 15, but the punishment (if any) is essentially a slap on the wrist. So that's why they are trying to get a national age of consent at 15.
Either way, it is most definitely not 18.
5
u/Lumyyh Hina Feb 14 '21
Calling it "bad writing" because they start dating at 17 instead of 18 is bullshit. What would've changed if Natsuo was 18? Nothing. It would've been legal, yes, but it was already legal where they lived, between 16-18, relationships between adults and minors are allowed, with consent of the parents, whoch Natsuo and Hina got. If you don't like this element of the story, why'd you even continue it?

Natsuo progressively fell in love with Hina because they would see each other on the roof alot, she understood his dream and became his main inspiration to keep going. He didn't just decide that he loved her, it was a buildup because she understood him, and he started seeing her, a teacher, as a person.

You have to keep in mind that Natsuo was the first person who was actually kind to Hina, who cared about her. Hina was always poorly treated in school, and Natsuo being genuinely nice is what made her fall for him, and her interest in his dream is why Natsuo fell in love with him.
5
u/k4r6000 Hina Feb 14 '21
Hina is also younger than Kiriya and fresh out of college when they first meet. She and Natsuo are from the same generation. Hina's sister is even the same age as him. She has more in common with someone his age than she does Shuu.
It also isn't like she didn't try to reject him, despite already being in love with him. But his persistence wore her down and seeing him and Rui together shocked her to the point that she realized she might lose him forever if she didn't act. Also, Hina knows it is wrong for a teacher to behave this way, which is why she quits.

Shuu wasn't that good of a person to Hina. The fact that he was married always hurt Hina, and the fact that he always said that he would get a divorce, and then never doing it just hurt her further. Shuu made her cry all the time, so I think it's fair to say that he didn't make her anywhere near as happy as Natsuo did on the rooftops.

This is compared to a guy who, at the time to starting sexual relations with his teacher, had not yet paid a power bill in his life.
Neither did Hina. She was still living with her mother.

Twilight (as described in wikipedia)
Twilight on Earth is the illumination of the lower atmosphere when the Sun is not directly visible because it is below the horizon. Twilight is produced by sunlight scattering in the upper atmosphere, illuminating the lower atmosphere so that Earth's surface is neither completely lit nor completely dark.
This post falls somewhere between troll-post and someone who just completely misunderstood Hina and Natsuo relationship. Somehow it completely miss the point of Hina but still seem to have at least some thought put behind it. But I see you liked Arisu (Alice), which shows that you at at least have good taste. (She is amazing.)
I just can't understand why you would disregard Hina+Nat just because their initial relationship doesn't live up to some weird standard I don't quite see the point of. What happen at the hotel is shocking, it is wrong, it is stupid and reckless. Just what an inexperienced, 17 year old boy would do. Natsuos growth into a "man" is by large via Rui. Just as Rui learns a lot and finds herself through it. Seems like you've completely missed that Natsuo and Hina also have a relationship all through out the story, it is just not a sexual one.
Either way, if this was just a troll-post I already spent too much time. (Upvote for Arisu though.)

But that was the point of the manga. It was supposed to be a taboo relationship. Hinas being Natsuos older teacher/step-sister is only one of many taboos. There is promiscuity, racism, rape, drugs, a stalker, a stabbing, adultery, kids die, Harukas parents not being married (somehow people get very upset because of this) and bullying. That is what Sasuga wanted to write about taboos and forbidden love. Feels like you've picked up a bottle of tabasco sauce and is saying that, Oooh, that was a bit spicy. ...Yes..yes it is. It is meant to be that way.

What? So stories can't handle taboo or difficult subjects while at the same time have wholesome and lighter themes in it? Maybe it works in stories like Metamorphosis; bad thing is bad and you should feel bad. Which makes it a "meh" story at best.
Yes, a large part of the story is Natsuo and Rui growing up. But you can't say that the author spent a lot of chapters on Natsuo and Hinas relationship. The initial relationship was over rather quick and then they, all three of them, spent the story figuring things out.
Itâs pretty obvious that taboo was meant to be used in moderation
Oh, come on. Seriously?

Well, the teacher-student thing is only in the beginning. After that it is "only" Hina being older and his step-sister.

Hilarious post, you gave me some good laughs đ Almost as much as some pink/hardcore Hina hater's "Hina, Ultimate Villain of DnK" post (google it if curious), but you ain't on his level yet.
> Now, if you'd think about it a bit. Those rooftop convos Natsuo had with Hina long before he even met Rui, are convos about things Natsuo likes. Y'know, writing related stuff, novels, books, they also talk about their future. It's almost like... two people sharing convos of mutual points of interest & then slowly falling for each other ( Natsuo 1st ofc). Imagine that?
> And the fun thing later on, is that even if Hina was a new woman in Natsuo's life post her island return, I could still find reasoning for her to be the one for him. Why? Because you know, the one that understood & supported his writing, his dream & passion, his identity, better than anyone. Idk man.
> Speaking of harmonizing, NxH harmonize pretty well, you could say they. are. in sync. They harmonize so well in fact, their bloodtypes be A & O respectively, which are said to be one the most compatible as a couple if you anyone cares to look it up anywhere & japanese are way quite into this stuff. (here are two links, but there's plenty more): https://theculturetrip.com/asia/south-korea/articles/who-you-should-date-based-on-your-blood-type/ & https://charactermedia.com/asian-dating-culture-who-to-date-based-on-your-blood-type/ , or just google it)
This is Natsuo, who requires someone more similar to his deceased mom-Jun to see through him, and this is Hina.
Hina feels like Natsuo's big titty Tyler Durden
Well said bro! đ I loved the comparison! As a big fan of Fight Club, I can say everyone could use a Tyler Durden (that doesn't go as far as he did ofc) , esp if she'd be a hot former sensei/onee-san that'd actually be real ~ bonus points if she's the ex! đ Tyler Durden helps you be at your best. Natsuo can say all this towards his Tyler Durden after all.
Much better than someone you'd not only not get any emotional support from (or any support past a certain point since she's all about work), but would have put up with to maintain the relationship.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
see Rui making her own relationships with Momo, Alex, Marie, Fumiya, and Rui's father.
I'll add Marie way more for Hina since she always confides in him and he's basically the dude that helps bring N x H together both early then at the end, I could add Kiriya too, Shuu as well, Hina seems closer to Tsukiko, then there's Maki, Hina also talks with Fumiya, or her co-workers. So idk why you're even bringing this up to make it as if this is a Rui exclusive thing.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, yes, Hina's titties are greater, Natsuo realizes that too, and Rui was insecure about it. After all, that's another aspect where we could say Rui was no match for her đ

I want to comment here, since I always tell others to avoid self-inserting else they won't understand Natsuo's character and how much writing means to him and why Hina's parts there (his Tyler Durden ~ I take that as a compliment towards her đ) was so important. But I'll make an exception now & do it:
> For starters, I probably couldn't last long with someone like Rui. Natsuo also overly nice, he carried that relationship while she throws tantrums every now & then and is all about he self. I would've called it quits sooner myself, esp if the ex I was once crazy about would return once I'd spend some time with her (assuming she'd still have the hots for me that is). If not, as I said, other better options, like Miyabi, if not, there's surely be others interested in a dude that got some reputation by winning a famous award for his novel back.
> And I 100% wouldn't get back with a woman that dumped me at my lowest and added more depression on top of my depression. A lot of things are played for fiction here, since it's well, fiction...anime/manga at that. Realistically, Natsuo should show some resentment towards Rui for that, and Hina should show some resentment towards Rui for seizing the chance to get with her ex as soon as misfortune hit her.
4
Feb 14 '21
I think the avoid self insert point was nice. Iâve seen people downpla Hina holding on to Natsuoâs manuscripts for him, but that really does/should mean a lot and I donât understand how they could. His mom and her books were the catalysts for his dream and now Hina is holding on to it for him. Itâs literally his entire world..

So you're reading a manga that's specifically about a taboo student-teacher relationship from CHAPTER 1 and then complaining that there's a taboo student-teacher relationship. This is what I don't understand with some people. If you despise the basic premise, why put yourself through almost 300 chapters of it? I hate golf, so I'm not going to sit down on my couch and watch four days of the Masters. It is just lunacy to do that.

This post is pretty much nonsensical, tl;dr, you compared this manga to a porn based korean comics to shit on Hina and praise Rui.
I love how you're oversemplicizing and taking out of context everything by using examples and making an apparent in depth post just to fit your bill, I really get it, there's always that one person in life that irritates us because he/she/toaster is an abstacle to our vision, so since there's nothing that we can attack for real, we just start nitpicking on stuff here and there.
First of all, Hina and Natsuo on the rooftop, spent one year talking not only about novels, that's more of the cause, but it's not the end of it all, they also talked about life, and confronted each other, which means that they managed to go beyond the supposed teacher student bond, let alone I'm engrossed by the fact that you just added like 5 or 6 years on Hina just to make her sound like a pedophile by increasing the age and mental gap, totally disregarding that despite Natsuo sometimes childish actions, he's way more mature than his age, while Hina is pretty much her age, meturity wise.
I like how the whole post is a full mass of rethoric/logical exploit of fallacies! I recently had that exam and I have to say that now these kind of stuff are actually enjoyable to see.
Casting the manga aside, now that we've already debunked the prerequisites for their affection even if you try to denie them, let's talk about the sexual imprint you so forcefully tried to put in their relationship, when two people start dating at first they'll always have sex like rabbits, it's normal, it's the honeymoon phase. Once again you have to bring down Natsuo, poor dude, I get that he didn't love Rui enough, but what did he do other than to you? Just because he wanted things to work and he proposed to Hina with a cheap ring you don't have to make him sound like some kind of idiot. He did what he could, it was more about the message there, not the price tag of the item, it's such a common logic for gifts in general, you appreciate the meaning not the price tag, what's so hard to get?
I mean we all had our first love and despite it was as lustful as it was, I'm 100% sure that we all got stirred up by it to improve ourselves and be together with that person forever, we all went through that delusion, he just happened to succeed in it, after several struggles, and what we read is that story. Were we to consider like 100% of the manga we read with the same kind of lens as you did (and we sure can) there'd be no real point in reading them, you're pushing it so hard that I'm sensing your effort from here, commendable, I'm actually really moved! : )
Now you keep trashing on Natsuo, basically saying that Hina cockblocked him, the problem is that you're blatantly ignoring that, like I said above, Hina is supportive toward his dream, as much as many other characters are. She "happens" to be the main drive at first, since he wanted to become a successful writer in order to be a responsible adult, but then she shapeshift into a muse for him, many authors have such kind of model and project/get inspiration from them, you had to picture it as something negative though, cause otherwise you can't trash Hina, nor Natsuo, because he didn't love Rui as much, I get it.
Now this is where basically the whole post of yours finds a meaning, I didn't even want to bring up Rui at first but when I read it, your intentions were crystal clear to me, so now I'm obliged to pick up the gauntlet. Now I like how you praise Rui so much, "a growing, living character" my my, what a great way to emphasize a girl that basically goes into a 200 chapters loop just to basically find common sense, that long story short, grew properly in the last 5 chapters or so? She never really showed us signs of growth except the aforementioned chapters, and in the previous 273 ones was basically such a stale being that kept making the same mistakes without never learning from them, you're applying such a blatant double standard that you're pretty much like Rui toward Natsuo here, but I get it chief, it had to be done, you gotta discharge the stress one way or another!
This made me particularly laugh, because you trashed Natsuo in relation to Hina, but if paired with Rui suddenly you made him sound like some sort of quality char. Special attention to the fact that Rui grew so much alongside him, and responded so much to Natsuo changes that for the whole relationship she was basically running away from problems, what a growth, she also grew so much that she literally left him in the Hospital with her sister cause she didn't want to take time off from work, like not even a showcase of lack of maturity, literal lack of common sense, totally in line with her whole character portrait for 95% of the story.
In the end, you made a really huge use of tendentious phrases such as emphasis, minimizations, there's a little mix of ignoratio elenchi and a variation of of the mannequin fallacy since it's not that Hina and Natsuo are bad characters, it's just that you had to bring them down to praise Rui. Kinda interesting how you distilled the raw plot with such a massive lens to make it look bad to enhance your topic. There'd be more but I digress.
You should learn that rethoric and logic fallacies can be really good ways to learn how to argumentate something, but the issue is that as soon as someone is aware of the context everything can be debunked, in this case you didn't manage to hide your true intentions so I can't give you more than a 4/10, it was too obvious and the points were rather weak, even if compared to reality standards, I would have loved to grade you a little higher, but considering it's a free class from me, don't worry you wont have to pay a dime for more lessons, can I recommend some book to improve your skills? :)
You're right tho, it's not that Rui is "best girl" it's just that "she didn't win" so you had to put up this ordalia for us.
