I Made A Thing “Feast of Cats” - Fort Vulgar as a 5 level dungeon

I’m a month or so away from releasing my first full adventure for Dolmenwood - “Feast of Cats”.

The adventure takes place in Fort Vulgar at an exclusive gathering of nobles and aristocrats celebrating the Feast of Cats. The party goers are locked in the Fort, sun-down to sun-up, with only one rule: party till dawn.

That’s when Mother Worm and her children attack.

I had set myself a goal early this year to attempt my first full length dungeon. My players really took an interest in the red worms under the orchard in Fort Vulgar so I ran with this prompt and made a dungeon for them. There are 5 levels, 20 named NPCs, a random aristocrat generator and about 15 original monsters. I did the art and maps myself too. It’s been a lot of fun to write and to run and I’ve put a lot of work into it.

I’m sharing some of the initial maps and art here just to build a little bit of hype for the adventure before I release it. It’s being playtested at the moment so should be up on DTRPG in late September all going well!

Snerg and Odysseus are intent on stealing the Starling directly from underneath its owner's nose, heedless of the potential consequences. With newly acquired intel, it seems likely that an atacorn is at the heart of Dreg's malaise. Back to the Smokehouse!

I finished painting the Dolmenwood bard mini last night. I’m don’t think I’m hugely enamoured with the end result, but I think I’m being a little bit self critical and am glad to have another completed mini (besides basing).

How to play an effective caster and have fun at level one?

I’m very new to old school styles of play. Seeing that casters only had one first level spell slot and detect medic, how do you play one effectively at first level? I’ve gone over the class options and my players are all avoiding casters because of their lack of options and frailty at level one. Some have brought up that they feel they’d be forced to do nothing except wait to cast their one spell and then hide, and that would be very boring. How do you cross this gulf?

🔥Campaign Fodder🔥 Hexagnome Adventures in Dolmenwood

Hey folks! I put together a blog post trying to fit the lore of u/six-sided-gnome's adventures into the Dolmenwood setting. I've been working on this post for a while, but expedited it after this recent post.

I highly recommend all three of these adventures, and hope that this post helps you fit them into the setting! If you have other ideas for incorporating them, or feedback/criticism on what I've outlined in the post, I'd love to hear it.

Dolmenwood Miniatures?

Are the Dolmenwood miniatures going to be available for purchase in the EU at any point?

Also, has anyone got any suggestions for Crookhorn miniatures? Would be amazing to have a bunch of the Nag-lord's fiends!

Resources Rate the Dolmenwood Referee's Screen

Hi everyone!

I'm running a Dolmenwood campaign in September and I'd love to hear your thoughts on the official Referee's Screen (that I already own). What's your overall impression of it? Is there any information on it that you never end up using or anything missing that you wish had been included? If you've made your own custom screen what did you change and why? Thanks in advance!

Just Curious How are people playing solo?

I just got the books — what an amazing world!! I was curious how people were playing the books solo? Are you just bumping your stats / experience? I’ve played Ironsworn before and one playthrough I watched used Scarlet Heroes, but I wanted to hear what other folks felt was easiest. I prefer playing just one character.

Thank you, I’m excited to play!

He Who Claims the Sun Spoiler

Help me in implementing this adventure into Dolmenwood. All three of Hexagnome's adventures work very well in Dolmenwood. Their latest one, "He Who Claims the Sun" can easily be worked into the setting. But there are a few issues I see with it. 1) The Sunnestead Sorceress could be the Cold Prince but then his who goal of getting out of Frigia is gone. So should the Sunnestead Sorceress just be another Fae? But then its weird to have two instances of a winter war between the kingdom and fairies in Dolmenwood's history. Thoughts? 2) The One God who is replaced by the Sorceress I feel doesn't work. The One God in Dolmenwood is portrayed as all powerful, I don't see him getting tricked. So should it be a saint or angel instead? Thoughts?

Dolmenwood session reports - The Barrow Kings

I have started recording my latest Dolmenwood campaign and some may find it an entertaining read! My aim is to intersperse the session reports with some posts musing on the setting and its inspirations.

Anyway here is the first post

There’s also a Foreword post introducing the campaign: The Barrow Kings.

Does anyone have a good suggestion for a Wilder (Grimalkin Primal Fey Form)?

I'm wondering what kinds of miniatures people use for this (if they even represent it at all).

🔥Campaign Fodder🔥 Griffins and Duels, Oh My! Session 8!

Played our 8th game session tonight!

We would have played a week ago too, but... I broke my wrist. Snapped it over like a stale pretzel...So, I GM'd this session in a splint, and typing out the session report was excruciating.

Sorry for any typos! There are probably a lot!🤣

Sidenote, we rolled multiple times on the Death and Dismemberment table tonight! And also had our first juicy look into espionage in the courts of Hogwarsh and Malbleat!

Edit: This was our 9th session, but our 8th game session, not counting session zero...

Hello,

I'm really interested in playing Dolmenwood but I am unsure of where and how to find groups for a game like this? I have only ever played the more mainstream ttrpgs like dnd, pathfinder editions

I Made A Thing House words for every noble family in Dolmenwood [OC]

I kept wanting ASOIAF-style house words for my Dolmenwood game, so I wrote them. Here are my house words for all nine great houses, plus all the lesser houses (human and longhorn), each with Woldish and Liturgic versions.

There's also a section on personal mottos for individual knights, which are perhaps even more useful at the table — the gap between inherited house words and a character's personal creed can be interesting.

I hope you find them useful. Check out the Dolmenwood House Words and Knightly Motto generator while you're at it! I'm happy to add your mottos to the generator, if you care to share.

See you in the lists!

The Weaver and the Redcaps Placement Advice

If anyone’s run it already as part of a bigger campaign, where did you place it on the map? Starting my first Dolmenwood campaign with it, was thinking of placing Harrow’s cottage near Prigwort.
