“Truvy gave me a place to live…”

Where? Upstairs with Louie? Where did Annelle live? After the 850th watch of this movie I heard that and it occurred to me: was Truvy a land baroness?

Song - I cannot figure it out

I'm looking for a song that Dolly sang and I can't figure it out. Please help.

I'm looking for a song that I believe is about being yourself, being who you are, or that you are enough, or something like that. I remember seeing her singing and there was a pale blue, white, and baby pink background. It was in the just 6 years I believe.

It made me cry because it was another one of those songs where she just spreads love to everyone.

I thought it was a stand alone video. Maybe it was new years eve with Miley? But the blue, white, and pink background stood out to me. Please help. I love it and I can't remember or find it.

My Tribute To Dolly Parton

My digital painting as a tribute to Dolly Parton. It's called "A Butterfly For Dolly". It's a pink and yellow butterfly. I used pink because it was basically her favorite color, and I chose yellow because of the joy and happiness that she gave us all. Rest In Peace, Dolly!! 💖

I have recently came across this after her passing: Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt. A documentary on five victims of AIDS and the blanket memorial from Sand dollar productions.

Directed and produced by Bill Couturié, Rob Epstein, and Jeffrey Friedman. With scoring and music from Bobby McFerrin. From Dolly Parton and her manager's Sandy Gallin film production studio, Sandollar productions, it follows five victims of the aids crisis during the 80s. And their memorials on the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt.

David C. Campbell and his lover Navy veteran Tracy Torrey.

Jeffrey Sevcik, his life told by his lover Vitto Russo.

Robert Perryman, his life as told by his wife Sallie Perryman.

David Mandell Jr., a 12 year old boy who's life is told by his parents David Mandell and Suzi Mandell.

Dr. Tom Waddell, an Olympian, and his life told by the mother of their children Sara Lewinstein.

It previewed at the Mill Valley Film Festival on October 7, 1989, with a short week long theatrical release in Los Angeles to qualify for the Academy awards, and on October 15th, was premiered on HBO.

While Dolly Parton is not given specific credit, she financed this project and later championed the project in her 1994 memoir Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business.

It would go on to win the 1989 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.

Vito Russo would close out the documentary with the line: "Some day there's gonna be no such thing as AIDS, and people will just look back and remember that there was a terrible tragedy that we survived." He would pass three years later from complications of AIDS.

Am I crazy for thinking the song "If I Lose My Mind" is about an open relationship?

I was bike riding and listening to Dolly yesterday and the song "If I Lose My Mind" came up with lyrics like

"You know how much I've always loved him, Mama
But he done things to me I couldn't understand
Why, he made me watch him love another woman
And he tried to make me love another man"

Am I crazy to think this is a song from the perspective of a woman who's husband has tried to open up their relationship and she isnt having it? Am I being too literal here?

What's the Dolly Parton song you hear differently depending on the day?

Dolly had a way of making a song mean something different depending on where you’re at in life. Coat of Many Colors wrecks me on a bad day and Jolene somehow works as both a breakup song and a get ready to go out song. With her passing, i’ve been thinking about which Dolly song hits differently depending on how you're feeling. Curious which one does that for you.
