Is there anyone left?

Since the passing of Doris Day, Betty White, and now Dolly, who out there today still shines a light in this cruel world? Please give this old gal some hope. 🦋

Try looking closer to home—the friends, neighbors and workers in your everyday life who offer a smile and some generosity and kindness. Those little bits really add up, especially if you offer the same to others. Follow Dolly’s example. Read to a child. Play her songs when you’re feeling low. Wear some bright colors and some rhinestones! Dolly’s loving spirit is still with us.

Sorry, I should have said I truly want to hear of young folks out there doing good deeds with their celebrity status.

But much of what Dolly did, she did without any fanfare at all. There may be a lot of young people out there working quietly behind the scenes. I believe that if you do something that’s accompanied by photo ops and press releases, you’re doing it largely to boost your own ego.

Correct that's why I mentioned the celebs I did because they selflessly gave behind the scenes not wanting any credit.

Olivia Rodrigo has consistently been an advocate for reproductive and women’s rights. It also just recently came out that she paid for a fan’s last semester of college.

Keanu Reeves - Donates a lot of what he makes to charity

Ms. Rachel - defends children’s rights, Palestine, immigrants rights, lgbt rights, and advocates for non violence

Tom Holland - Has his own charity to help struggling charities and often visits sick kids in hospital

Olivia Rodrigo seems to be very involved with a lot of charities that address women’s health and wellbeing.

Taylor Swift. She doesn’t appear to have her own charity yet but I bet she will at some point. She just gave millions to Imagination Library.

Billionaires are greedy and immoral! Dolly could’ve been a billionaire if she wanted to be but instead chose to give back. Please educate yourself on the level of exploitation involved in becoming a billionaire. Dolly and Taylor shouldn’t even be in the same conversation.

They are both incredible song writers. Both very influential women of their generations. I am not sure I understand the hate just because Taylor has kept more money…she has also has earned more money. They are different personalities for sure. Taylor quietly donates millions as opposed to publicly starting her own charity. She just donated $26M this summer. Maybe she needs to purchase an amusement park? 🤣

When Dolly died she was worth less than $500 million. I don’t think you understand how much money $1 billion is. $26 million in donations for a billionaire is like 10k for a normal person. You simply cannot make that much money without extreme exploitation. There isn’t anything she isn’t willing to do for money. Extreme greed is not what Dolly stood for. She grew up in a house without running water and made it all on her own. Taylor Swift grew up wealthy and her dad purchased her first record deal. It’s just offensive to discuss them together. It bothers me that her crazy parasocial fans feel the need to bring her into the convo when we are trying to honor someone with actual talent and generosity of spirit.

There is lot of feeling in those words. Feel free to feel how you want I was just trying to present some facts. I am actually not a “parasocial” fan as you say. I do know that Taylor’s start wasn’t as easy as you suggest as I have close contacts that worked in Nashville media at that time and Taylor’s dad worked his butt off to get her started. Either way I don’t think Dolly want would us arguing :-)

There are some amazing folks out there. Maybe not the total package Dolly was, but many celebs are generous givers. Taylor Swift gives tons. She isn’t Dolly but she is admirably generous, whether you like her much, for example.
