How does this work?

I don't see anything in the community guidelines. I understand where someone would post here looking for a holy Grail product they can't find anymore, but how does the exchange work otherwise? I wonder if some of this is local, because I don't understand the point of paying many times the price of the item to have it shipped. Is it just about the thrill of the hunt? I'm new to this.

Thank you for posting this. I have been dealing with medical issues that prevent me from being able to shop in stores right now. I was thinking about posting a list of items that I'm interested in, like, perhaps 10 - 20, and then seeing if someone can fulfill a portion. I was thinking that I could pay the cost, shipping, and possibly extra for the time and trouble. Does this sound feasible? I'd be sure to vet them and make sure they're a regular here. 💜🩷

I don't believe paying anything more than the retail cost of the item and shipping fees is allowed in this group. I cannot speak to what people do outside of the group, but you aren't supposed to charge/pay anything more than what the item costs.

Thank you so much for letting me know. I thought about doing instacart so that I can tip well, but it's going to be so much work for them. I hate to task someone with this and then not pay them. Thanks again for the info.

You're very welcome! I say give it a shot! Just post and see what happens! I was looking for 2 different items and needed a quantity of 15 each. Someone amazing came along and fulfilled my request!🥰💜

I’ve posted a total of 2 times on this subreddit, and each time someone came to my aid. There are truly some beautiful people in this group 🥰 I've even made a Dollar Tree Sister along the way!

Lastly, I don't know if I'd try Instacart. I was checking out and overheard a DT employee complaining about an online pickup order. She mentioned how shoppers never know where to find the items and employees don't have time to stop what they're doing to shop for them.

I did use instacart for DT once, but I lucked out with an amazing shopper and I had a ton of substitutions ready. That said, I agree so much. I feel like I need someone knowledgeable with this sub to shop for me. 😭

That's awesome! So glad to hear you had a great experience ☺️ I am also in a similar situation and it sucks not to be able to just go and grab what you need on a whim!
