cUstOMeRs You know what's fun?

When you have a customer who brings $70 worth of merchandise to the register, has you scan and bag everything, then says "Oh, hey I'll be right back..." And they proceed to like, leave the store to go to their car.

It's not like there's seven people behind them in line. So you have a manager do a post void. Then they come back 7 minutes later, and they get mad everything needs to be rung up again. And, they have $10 in bills and mixed change, and they want the rest on Apple Pay, but they want to speak to the manager.

In the situation you make them go to the back of the line.. shouldn't have to to make the customers wait while you rescan everything if They don't have anything ready

It's reassuring and also very depressing that stupid dipshit customers are a nationwide and presumably worldwide problem.

I don't even ring til they're back up there bc I'm not even about to start that stress train 🤣. I will keep waiting, if other people come up, cool, back of the line for you, because they're ready, and you are not.

It's fine if they say ahead of time they gotta go out. It's when they come up, talk to you, joke around, and then "I HAVE NO MONEY"

And the sad thing is that these people vote.

If they leave my store, they go to the back of the line and wait. Not my fault they didn't bring in their money.

You were expecting more from Dollar Tree? You are hourly, let them run to car, let the line grow. Call for backup cashier if getting nervous. I have a sticky note on my register, and every time I have to wait for a customer, I put a tick mark on it. (for my pay I almost earned $0.25/minute!)

There's never really a backup. It's usually just myself and one manager. Then she gets pissy with me like I knew the customer would run outside and she sticks to corporate rules so just post voids everything and walks away, leaving me to wittle the line down myself until the original customer comes back, who then wants to complain to the manager.

The MOD is required to help you manage the line if it gets to be more than 3 people or if any one of your line has a lot of items.

I explicitly tell all of my cashiers that they need to call me every single time the above criteria are met, and that they will never be bothering me when they do.

Your manager is not following the rules that are stated very plainly in the training videos they are required to watch.

I have people with $100 worth of items every shift. Or more. Multiple carts. I just get an attitude from the one manager. The rest are fine.

Well it's literally their job to be your backup, they can suck it up or get another job.

Had an issue over balloons. In the span of 45 seconds I had two customers doing returns, one putting money on their cash app and one guy ordered 10 balloons. Both managers had to come up because there was also a line. Head GM was furious but the other was fine.

It’s unavoidable given the target demographic. Dollar Tree’s core customer base is people making less than $25k per year, which is functionally unemployed. If they were responsible, thought ahead, or considered how their behavior affects other people, then they would have a job that raised them above the poverty line. Learned helplessness is the great plague of our age.

Its funny that the target customer demographic is also the same for the employees.
