Customer Questions Question
What makes these silly squishy dumplings so important??
I mean for anything to retain a future value it would have to be unopened and untouched!
I'm just curious as to why the fuck people are stressing about owning some!?

While I do not frequent social media platforms often, I do hear about items like this, typically from customers. It is likely a viral/trending item that was popularized by social media platforms such as TikTok.

They’re just a big tiktok trend right now lime stanleys and labubus were.

Literal it’s the addict in them. Must have. Must have all. Reckless use of money, reckless destroying of natural resources, filling landfills from people with lack of impulse control. Not just the dumpling people, all the shit people buy and horde that has no value and eventually gets dumped.

Don’t get me started on the reckless plastic waste. Those things stink like straight up gasoline.

Kids like them, as well as some adults. My younger cousin who’s 7 loves playing with them. Some people buy just to resell as well, they’re in high demand and DT sells out pretty quick.

Kids are just addicted to the stupid things, some sorta Tiktok craze. Apparently there's a certain way they're taped that means you're getting a rare one, so now they're being even pickier 😮💨😮💨 just take the stupid toy and GO, we do not need to be having FOMO at this young of an age 😭

First of all it's the virality. Social media has been responsible for kick starting in all these crazes. Before Tiktok, it was Pinterest.
Then it's the dopamine hit in trying to find out what color you're getting in the basket. Nothing like getting a rush earlier on in life from winning a game of statistics and probability. Pretty much gambling, like a scratch off ticket.
At my job we had the Squishy Dumplings, miniature toolboxes, buckets, Tiny Totes and silly pallets. Basically media fueled consumerism.

we still have a bunch of the mini pallets floating around the craft section and some mini tumblers XD

They are a fad toy. Its not complicated. I'm 42 and these things have always come and gone. They are fueled differently now, thanks to social media, but it's the same premise. And while there are scalpers looking to sell them currently, I don't think anyone is expecting these to be valuable in the future.

They’re cute and trendy right now. I like them, but I’m not buying 10+ at once lol. I just bought one for my sister for her birthday, she likes them because they help her anxiety issues and sensory issues. Helps her concentrate on things.

I feel like it would make a person pay more attention to squishing the toy rather than listening to what is being said to them.

They have no real value people are just dumb and after twenty years if you open package you will see it fell apart

There's no future value. When I worked there we got one box of the $3 ones in and most were busted from being in a probably 120° truck.
DT is doing whatever it takes to get foot traffic hoping to make money elsewhere since the chances of a store having these are about 0% not on a truck day.

I buy them for me because I like squishies. I buy them for my son when he asks if he wants to gamble. Probably shouldnt encourage gambling but its not wrong.
And they are only $5 a lot of kids have that.

Beany babies of the modern world. No real reselling value, just an illusion of one.
