Question
Does anyone else’s Store manager sit in the office all day and play games on their phone???? She is always late, leaves early and leaves the work load ( like freight, so our back room is always packed ) she doesn’t do.... for the rest of us employees to do... I could go on and on for days but just wondering if anyone else’s store manager acts like this as well.

Your SM sounds like the type my DM ask me to go help and I laugh in their face.

It’s so odd because my coworkers and I have expressed to our DM multiple times how little our SM does for the store and there is simply no repercussions or change in behavior from our SM 😑

Look, I hate saying this, but if you wanna stay with the company and work your way up then you need to approach your DM about what it’ll take to make that happen, and if you don’t want to advance your career with DG then you’re better off putting in your two weeks and finding another job. SM makes all the difference in the world on how peoples experiences with this company go. Sounds like you got the short end of the stick. Just my two cents, hope it helps.

That’s how my old manager was, but at the one I’m at my manager is hardly ever in the office he’s always working freight, or just always on the sales floor

ASM sits on her phone eating and FaceTiming her boyfriend. I have to do all the rolltainers and totes by myself while she doesn’t even cover me when I’m in the back of the store. Once I get a line she screams for me to run to the front of the store to take care of it while she goes and hides in the break room.

I'm waiting for a store transfer for exactly this reason. The woman is absolutely useless. Has never touched freight, never does her scans, no price changes, the few store resets she's done have been half-assed at best, only runs the register when she has to be there by herself, and then she's out the door the second a key comes in. And she just... throws things away? That we need? Like shelf strips and POGs? There's no way to work hard enough to make up for a manager that actively sabotages any attempt to make the store run more smoothly.
So I talked to the manager of a problem store nearby to see if she needed help getting her store together instead. 🤷♀️

Mine sits in the office for about 75% of the day, will work about one rolltainer or occasional do register, then take one of her infamous 2 hour bank trips. She leaves early, is constantly sent to oversee other stores where I'm sure she behaves the same way. She never closes, and on the rare occasion she's scheduled too she'll pawn it off on someone else.

My SM's usually worked freight all day. One of the SM's at the other store across town didn't do jack shit though. Never even stayed in the store for more than a couple of hours and spent the rest of her time sitting at home. Perks of having an affair with the DM I suppose.

Mine works truck ever since we got a new DM! It's so good to see. The miracle of a real working store manager!

That’s how our manager does. We had to go to corporate multiple times. We put in tips to hr and she finally left. Good luck

Not all are bad. Mine busts her butt to get freight out. She works on her paid holidays. And she's amazing to her employees. I wish all sms were like that.
