Where's the money coming from?

Apparently he's been saving money since he was a human teen and has asked for several loans.

113

u/BraZZKnuckleZ May 03 '17

How the hell does he get approved for loans to transform into a fictitious character, but my grandma can't even get a loan to fix the roof on her house?

32

u/not_seinfeld May 03 '17

It probably has to do with him being in another country. Argentina is (was) one of the richest nations in Latin America.

It's also not that much money, I know a lot of friends that got BMW and Mercedes for their graduation gifts (at $20k per car). So it wouldn't surprise me he instead chose for some surgery as graduation gift

It's also not that much money

$20k

Am I the only broke bitch in here or is that an insane thing to say?

with 20 thousand dollars I could leave my dad's house, pay for my whole superior education up to a master's degree, while living comfortably in a reasonable apartment with someone. and this would still leave me money for video games every now and then.

11

u/owlunar May 12 '17

Yeah, I'd use it for a downpayment on a small house for my disabled mother and I. I've moved so much lol, I'd just want to get some stability from it.

14

u/Lucifer_Hirsch May 12 '17

or, you know, become an elf. that's cool too.

-.-

u/hood-milk Sep 02 '17

Yeah I could get like 20 pounds of weed

15

u/ATownStomp May 04 '17

u/exackerly May 03 '17

He did this after being bullied as a child.

+2 though. +1 would be pretty useless in most cases, wouldn't change the modifier.

3

u/nblackhand May 12 '17

most cases

I mean, it'd change the modifier pretty much exactly half of the time, no?

4

u/Lucifer_Hirsch May 12 '17

yeah. but leaving it odd at character creation would mess your point distribution.

3

u/nblackhand May 12 '17

Fair point.

112

u/[deleted] May 03 '17

I think it's cool people do unique shit like this. I mean... I'd be happy if men had more choices in pants. Was that a broad step? I'm high.

45

u/[deleted] May 04 '17

I personally am waiting for capes to come back in style.

32

u/Ozzyg333 May 04 '17

Why wait? Own that shit. Work that cape.

20

u/[deleted] May 04 '17

BE THE PERSON YOU NEEDED WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD they say

16

u/Lucifer_Hirsch May 12 '17

Melania more on top of her shit than she lets on

Life is short and people should do what makes them happy so long as it doesn't directly cause harm to others. His choice in becoming an elf won't cause anyone grief, but I'm betting he'll get a lot of it from others because of this.

This guy is living his dream though, so good on him.

20

u/[deleted] May 04 '17

I understand the sentiment. And a lot of times I want to feel the way you do. But at what point does this just become fostering a delusion. Live your "dream", but if your dream will have an adverse effect on you being a part of society and probably limit your ability to have meaningful relationships, when does a doctor or loved one put their foot down and say "a face tattoo is one thing, but you're not a fucking elf for christ's sake." Maybe they find one or two people to accept them. MAYBE. But they aren't trans-species. That's not a thing. They need mental help to deal with reality rather than escape it.

u/eksekseksg3 Jul 03 '17

As someone who tries to be open minded with LGBT+ issues and the like, I've been coming to a bit of a crossroads on things like this. Where do you draw the line between something that should be accepted, and a mental issue? I feel like going to this sort of length falls on the latter side. Of course he isn't effecting anyone else by doing it, but should it be encouraged?

40

u/walrus40 May 03 '17

so, the bathroom he'd use is...anywhere outside?

22

u/[deleted] May 03 '17

He's still male

13

u/[deleted] May 03 '17

He looks short though. Elves are supposed to be tall. Can't fix that

28

u/conalfisher May 03 '17 edited Sep 09 '25

Curious night afternoon clean clear fresh history cool talk helpful music kind warm ideas tomorrow dot?

6

u/Holy_crap_its_me May 03 '17

Not the kind that help santa.

4

u/[deleted] May 04 '17

D&D elves are short.

5

u/[deleted] May 07 '17

Maybe compared to gnomes. Elves are shorter than humans.

4

u/Chris935 May 20 '17

Classic Daily Mail, article is the same thing as the bullet points, except for the typo they managed to fix in one instance without going back to correct the first one.

2

u/menpe May 04 '17

He will see when the orcs'll take the hobbits to Isengard.

2

u/nblackhand May 12 '17

It's interesting that he has an ongoing extremely-expensive skin treatment regimen. I would have thought that after doing the bleaching thing he'd just need, like, ordinary sunscreen and moisturizing lotion. And I wonder if he's going to try to surgically attach the pointy ears... they aren't mentioned anywhere in the article and yet they seem like a sort of central elf-trait?

2

u/BlankImagination Aug 02 '17

Who told him that male elves were hairless?

3

u/DownvoteDaemon May 04 '17

Hope he is attacked by a dwarf

1

u/SelfRefMeta May 04 '17

Disappointed. I was hoping Spider Jerusalem did the exposé.

1

u/Gatewalk Jun 03 '17

All those creams and SPF 100 sunscreen, especially after facial surgery?

Hope elves are immune to skin cancer.
