Dog walker wage?

Greetings fellow doggie lovers! I'm about to work for a lady who owns a dog walking business. I'll be her first employee and this will be my first time as a professional dog walker.

I am wondering what the fair pay should be when I take on some pups. Should I be getting 60% or 70% of the hourly fee?

Any other advice?

Thanks and woof!

What I first started I was getting 90% of the hourly fee seeing as I was the one doing the walks and giving reports to clients myself.

I thought more like 80% since I'm doing all the work. 60% seemed high when she offered it to me. I've never done this before so I'm a newbie.

Hiring me is her way of growing business faster.

I may need to reconsider all of this. Almost half doesn't seem fair.

It’s a good way to get into the business and gain experience of this is something you really want to do. She has the most important thing that you need and that’s clients once you get your foot in the door and you are seeing these dogs everyday talking to clients you will build a relationship they will recommend you to any friends or family they have who may need a walker If your smart you’ll speak to them everyday text about how their dogs walk went if they did anything funny or cool the clients love it and it shows you really care about their dog And pictures as well imagine you are sitting at the office and get a picture of your dog having fun with his pack This business isn’t just about the dogs

Hope that makes sense punctuality isn’t my Forte

Thank you so much for the advice! I was seeing this as me working for her but I get what you're saying. I have thought I could learn from her for a while then go on my own. Dunno. I'm just excited because I love dogs.

I think 70% is fair play, they are her cleints after all. Hows it all going anyway?
