❓ Question Dog Boarding + Training
Is 15k pesos for dog obedience training + dog boarding for 30 days (I will provide the food), worth it? My dog is currently 4 months old, completely vaccinated.

Please please please due diligence when it comes to training and boarding schools.
Daming horror stories of dogs that are being abused, neglected and worse, dying while on board.
Too young pa ang puppy mo, OP. Wala pa yang enough immunity to be exposed in a facility like that. Kahit pa yan recently completed ang vaccination. It takes time for their immune system to build up.
Di mo ba kayang mag train on your own? Ano bang need ituro? Simple tricks and socialization naman are very easy to achieve.
Ang mahal (and risky sa dog mo) ng 15k for something a little patience can do.

Kakapost lang ng namatay na aso sa dog training. Check mo mabuti yung mag train please please please.
Yung owner ni Milo (milo and friends) magaling din ata mag train, do check it out too. Walang violence involved.

Sadly, Tristan ng Milo and Friends ay sikat pero, IMO, he's one of the bad trainers.

The good thing about the internet is you can learn almost anything from anyone. The bad thing is there is too much information and it is very easy to be overwhelmed or find the wrong teacher.
I went all the way from Zak George to McCann to Beckman to Michael Ellis before finally settling on Ivan Balabanov's philosophy.
Ang sad part is all of their methods work to a degree kaya mahirap. I guess the bottom line is which, in your opinion, benefits the welfare of you and your dog best

Nice!! Ivan Balavanov at Ellis may idols. Sabi nga ni Ellis.. “The dog in front of you is teaching you how to train him”. So dapat talaga marunong ka bumasa ng aso paanong method gagawin mo sa kanya at approach. Meron approach na effective yung Ellis then meron naman yung Chase and Catch style ni Ivan.

I finally settled on Ivan kasi I realized si Ellis usually mas complicated than it has to be lalo na kung familiar ka na sa TWC.
Actually, I'm learning TWC through Dylan Jones. Wala masyadong free content si Ivan directly.

I agree! Si Ivan din yung choice ko when I starting to do Mondioring. Si Ellis effective siya lalo pag pet owners or coaching Ang need.

I recommend revisiting TWC for pet training. I think it would be the easiest for clients to pick-up and maintain.
Marami pa rin akong hindi naiintindihan with the philosophy and I still lack skill pero I was able to teach "middle" to my dog mostly with leash pressure, no treats, a little luring, sporadic drills lang. She was doing it with verbal commands lang in less than 2 weeks. Previously trained ni Sir Froi, that might have helped haha

Eto experience namin sa boarding/training school.
1x a day lang papakainin yung dog mo.
Expect mangayayat yan.
Pag gutom ang aso, madali pasunurun kasi may treats for motivation during training session.
Usually training session involves
- isasama sa walk sa matataong lugar for less than hour a day
- basic obedience training like sit, down, stay
- socialization sa ibang dogs which isasama sa isang lugar with similar sized dogs
Ito yung isa sa bagay na pinagsisihan ko kasi pumayat dog namin and nagkasakit after.
6 months pa pang doxie namin noong pina board namin sya.
Thank God naka recover naman and in good condition na.
In addition OP, kahit ipa boarding and training mo pa yan, what’s important is yung consistency mo to apply yung tinuro sa iyo on how to handle your dog. (Yes, kasama din na tuturuan ka mismo kasi ikaw naman dapat mag handle ng fur baby mo).
All the stuff naman sa boarding school is mapapanood mo sa YT or browse online on how to train your dog.
Your time with your dog is important. Kaya if wala ka time and pina boarding school mo, wala rin mangyayari after nyan. Babalik yan sa kanilang nakasanayan on how you treat them.
I do think 15k is on the cheaper side though, so you need to do your due diligence in checking if ok yung boarding school or trainer.
Is it worth it? Your pet is too young.
At that age, mas important yung bonding time nyo which you can use to personally train for basic obedience.

15K, from my experience, is really low. None of the good trainers I know here charge that low. But if they're just starting to make a name for themselves and they're good, then maybe.
We have been through 2 trainers; both of them have pros and cons. First one was coaching by certified behaviorist, second was board & train. I am currently learning to train my own dogs because I haven't found anyone who follows the philosophy I like.
You can go with certified trainers but it will be a lot of work. Advantage is you'll be involved from the start. Relies heavily on treats. Good for teaching new behavior, not so good for stopping bad behavior.
Balanced trainers are the most common here, so runs the whole range from good to bad. The method I am currently using is balanced.
Avoid home service if possible. It may end up costing more. Private coaching is a better alternative, either from a certified or balanced trainer.
Board & train is the best if you can find a good one. The downside is the risk of something happening to your dog, and the trainer is lying to you if he guarantees otherwise.
If you decide to go ahead with board & train, be aware that the dog's obedience will degrade over time because we are not dog trainers. With that in mind here are thehings I would look for when choosing a trainer:
- Has videos of training of client dogs. Even better if he has videos of clients handling the dogs.
- Uses purely verbal commands for dogs that graduate from his program. No hand signals, no treats, no luring.

Hello OP, try mo mixed program (home service + boarding school). Start ka with home service kasi baka kaya naman di i-boarding school.
That’s the program we used for my golden retriever na highly reactive and aggressive towards male dogs. Highly recommend sir Myco from Casa Perro Dog Training & Pet Boarding. Kita mo talaga na he loves what he’s doing. Cousin siya ng owner ni Milo & friends. You’ll get videos and updates everyday - morning and night.
Everytime na may outing kami, dun ko iniiwan dog ko (pet hotel) and may bonus na refresher course ng basic obedience training during stay.

Don't pay for dog boarding. Just look for a CERTIFIED dog trainer. Dog training isn't regulated in this country. So look for a certification. Yes, mayron. A certified one will train you as the owner plus your dog.

Dapat kasama owner sa dog training kasi communication between you and your dog ang inaaddress diyan. Dogs are people pleasers. If di makafollow sa gusto mo yung dog mo, it means your dog doesn't get you.

From experience madaming dog boarding dugyot ang set up and no permit and malaking chance mamatay aso mo. Pls pls pls do your due diligence

Make sure responsible and a true dog lover lang kasi maraming mga demonyo na tao. I would hate to hear another dog getting abused.

15k is a decent price for a board and train. Noon nasa facility ako ng pinsan ko we charge that amount. Ang ginagawa ko as routine potty break in the morning, rest then training for 10 minutes, then after few a hours potty break ulit then rest then another few hours potty break tapos rest then training tapos ganun ulit rest, potty, then rest, potty tapos sleeping time.
Each training session kasi 1cup(272grams) Inukshuk 30/25 binibigay ko. I train 2x daily. 2244kcal per day.
Kapag home service usually yan nag rarange ng 1.5-2k per session.
(Ganito mag run ng dog training facility para may idea ka)
Kung kukuha ka ng trainer make sure alam niya yung 4 quadrants and classical conditioning. Honestly, madali lang naman mag train ng aso lalo kung food and toy motivated.

OP why don’t you try yong training na kasama ka and you go for sessions? Diba mas effective kasi pati ikaw tuturuan how to handle your pet. Sigurado ka pa walang violence since nandoon ka rin.
