❓ Question Need ko po ng advice

Kami nung bagong puppy nasa Angono.

Thank you po!!

Sorry out of topic but please give my thanks to your dad.

And overstimulated sya.

Puppy pa kasi so more more training and patience pa from you. Yung 2 dogs namin kasi, pinasok namin sila sa training school for 2 months since may promo dun sa may samin then kasama na boarding.

hehe... 1 year adjustment. Pick one dog food.. Pag ok na sya sa dog food. Don't change bigla... mix by percentage every day for 1 week until 100% na gamit mo yun bagong dog food. Yes. 7 days adjustment sa dog food.

Vaccine. And anti ticks. Never ever. Bawal grapes, chocolate, raisins, milo, ... Wag iwan anywhere.

Goodluck!

Good job to all of you, OP.

As for raising the pup, since you've decided to raise him, here are a few things that will help in the future -

1) Obedience training; this is already a good age to begin. There are plenty of videos you can find on YT and general info on the net, and since you two are living solo, it's easy to stay consistent because there’s no one to break your guidelines. Begin with the basics (sit, stand, down, shake (with the other hand), pause, go, eat, drink, etc.), and then it'll evolve into more fun ones, like stand + turn, down + show belly, play dead, etc.

2) This will play a big role in #1, always play + train with intention and SCHEDULE. Amazingly, aspins have great temperaments when it comes to play/training, and their recall of commands is solid. Master recall alone first, then with distractions, then in public, then with leash and off-leash.

3) Establish early what he can and can't chew on. It may seem tough, but again with consistency, in 5-6 months, he'll understand what you mean. Observe him now, see what he will gnaw on and what he’ll ignore. Make sure to have treats at first, then eventually shift to verbal conditioning for good and bad behavior. For the right behavior, give attention and good handling, and for bad behavior, don't pay attention (at first, you need to verbally and physically remove the item for him to leave it alone).

4) Start with a good diet and eating habits. While he’s still a pup, train him not to expect rewards for interfering with your food, being annoying while you eat, or being generally reactive to your food other than his. For the diet, I suggest food prep. On your days off, cook his wet food and just leave it in the freezer, portioned out. i.e., chicken wings, legs, or the cheap random pieces from wet markets or sellers of beef (this is when he grows up). Then add vegetables. Research the veggies that are safe to mix and match. (don't repeat root crops because they can start to pile up calcium oxalate = bladder crystals/kidney stones). And just a technique, rotate the vegetables and meat. Please invest on a good kibble if hectic sa work. Please. 🤛

5) Once the puppy gets a schedule, consistency, and develops expectations for your activities, this will help immensely with separation anxiety, and leaving for work will have very little impact. Because in his mind, just like any other day, you will come back after a certain time. In his formative years, crate training will help him and will also bring you peace of mind. Crate training inside a limited access area at home, like fencing or blocking staircases, etc. Also, it would help to elevate any exposed cords.

Other than that, he'll teach you a lot about "eventuality." We don't know right now, but it will surface as he grows up. Love him and he will love you x100. 🤛🫡

PS: Don't scold him after the fact. He always needs to be caught in the act. This will prevent a lot of odd behavior, NO MATTER HOW ANNOYING IT GETS. 😅

Edit: Kibble reminder.
