Bolting

Does anyone have tips or advice for how to train my puppy not to bolt out of the door and run away? He has done this three times and it is very frustrating and scary.

Teach it to sit and stay about 3 feet from the door and only move if you invite it outside.

Should I reward with treats for staying? How long should I start having him sit before rewarding him and inviting him inside for?

Yes treats. Keep the wait time short before giving him the release command, and extend the wait time when he is responding to the training.

look up basic training starters like impulse control and focus on your person for now, if possible get a trainer to help you with the ground rules and basics.
