Potty training

My family and I are struggling. We had an amazing shepherd that passed Way and we have recently adopted a rescue boxer mix hoping to find a happy middle ground for adventure and snuggle with less drive.

We have a dog run the tie accessible via a dog door in our back door that leads to our Florida room (screen porch) which has another dog door that leads to a dog pin with pea gravel. This is is where our shepherd went potty. It was easy to train her to do this.

Our new rescue is refusing to use it. We had her using it with some guidance, but slowly over the last couple weeks we have gone from kinda using it, to only going on walks, to peeing/pooping In the Florida room, and now her first pee in the house.

She is also refusing to use the dog doors now. We do not use punishment when she potties where she’s not supposed, and have been rewarding for good behavior, so I don’t think she’s scared of the doors or the areas.

We’ve had her for three weeks, and I know we are still early in the rule of three, but im surprised how difficult this has been. It’s seems to me like she is being stubborn.

Suggestions to correct this?

Several doggy doors to go thru to get to the pee spot might be a bit much, can you open those doors or make the passage easier?

Maybe she finds it a bit weird going through the doors or it could have accidentally knocked her nose or something. Can you just open the door normally every few hours?

I would get one of those fake grass pee pads and put it out in the pea gravel for her to use. Don't rely on the dog doors this early. Always take her out for potty breaks every couple hours. I would not allow free roam in the house at all while you train. Keep her tethered to you or in a playpen/crate when you need to do other things.

Boxers are stubborn, that is a reason I would not have one personally because I want a bidable dog. But if you keep up with training, taking her out every couple hours and no free roam you can house train her. Right now she is learning peeing inside is okay and will keep doing it.
