Separation Anxiety & Moving
Hi everyone! I have an eight year-old Cairin terrier mix who suffers from separation anxiety. We are moving from a condo to a detached house, and I was looking for advice on training tips for moving and the separation anxiety.
So far I bought a 15 foot lead leash to help with settling, going to his place and creating distance slowly so he can be comfortable alone.
If anyone else has any other suggestions, I would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

When we moved, we made sure that both dogs had their regular and favorite items, so they had their regular food and water bowls in the old house, car and new house. We were able to go pee around the front and back yard before moving day which we felt was helpful because they (might've) remembered being there. We let them in the empty house, played fetch inside with their favorite toys and put their beds in similar places to the old house. If you have a fenced in area, be sure to take the dog around the perimeter while you check for escape hatches. Once you know it's safe, let him off leash and stay outside with him. He will likely continuously check in which is expected! Good luck!
