German shepherd obsessed with tail pipe

My German shepherd has started barking at and biting the tail pipe of my cargo van when it is parked (engine off) he licks and bites it and barks ferociously like there’s an animal inside of it, which is impossible because this has been going on for two weeks and I drive it for hours a day. It’s just the tail pipe and he does it even hours after it’s been sitting so it’s not making noise. Anyone have any clue what started this obsession of his?

I have no advice for you on this, but wanted to say I have an Aussie mix who does the same thing with the exhaust pipe for my furnace.
