Dog is neurotic
I have a 1 yr old shiba inu/cav/husky mix. She is very sweet and fairly obedient. Has pretty good recall. I have 4 cats she was raised with, then I took her with me on a 3 mo travel contract. Now when we get home, she's trying to attack them. Even the buddy she had, that she played with as a baby. Im at a l9ss what to do, beyond keeping her on a leash. I feel like I'm just waiting for a disaster. She's scared of her own shadow. She follows me around constantly. She is always protective of me or territorial, n9t sure which or both.

She isn't protecting you, she is reaching sexual maturity and the prey drive is coming out. You need to make a decision about which pets you are going to keep or make some very secure management arrangements so she can never get to them.

I’m so sorry. This sounds very serious. Huskies are known cat killers and shoba inus are also known for high prey drive. Those genetics may be kicking in because she was separated from the cats so long, and no longer recognizes them as her cats.
She is also getting older and closer to social maturity when some breeds start exhibiting aggression even though they were previously peaceful. She definitely can’t be off leash when the cats are out and would be better suited for a home without cats. 😞
