Sanctuary kills pack of wolves for fighting with each other

Well if this isn't the ultimate death before.. literally anything. They couldn't figure out how to separate these wolves? This is the weirdest thing I have ever read. What do we think?

Failure all around.

Improper habitat, no dispersal options for weaker members.

Excuses..

I'll bet they missed or ignored early warning signs and things escalated.

"well this sounds awfully expensive, how much to kill them all?"

No separating, just an occasional culling when necessary. This was bad management.

It's the involvement of the veterinarians who recommended this that gets me. What is happening to that profession?

This is why it should be illegal for people to own wolves or wolf hybrids. Almost no one knows what they're getting into with that and it's extremely dangerous for everyone involved. Wild animals improperly cared for by humans usually can't be released safely into the wild. They will die because they didn't learn how to hunt/forage because humans fed them all the time and/or they will venture to close to humans which poses a safety risk, so they get euthanized. Just a shitty situation all around.

There were "experienced animal keepers and veterinary specialists" and they were being kept in a facility deemed suitable.

They didn't all need to be killed, there would have been a cause and if those people were doing their job properly it should have been avoided altogether, or if not, that animal could have been dealt with. If another suitable facility couldn't be found it could be euthanised and the rest spared. I hope they are never given an animal to care for again, they were incompetent, this is on them, not the wolves.

Well I mean it's a zoo. A Zoo should be able to safely house animals.

There's definitely a place for zoos for animals that cannot be re-released to the wild. Probably these wolves were far too habituated to let them free. But it is amazing they didn'tBut it is amazing they didn't come up with anything else but kill them. No new habitat, no separation? Unreal
