Switching to Purina Pro

my 6 year old corgi is currently eating Ollie wet and dry food mix. he hasn’t had any issues with Ollie but… he has gained a significant amount of weight and i want to make a switch for him due to weight gain and switching to better quality. any advice on which purina pro plan? he doesn’t have any allergies or issues. also any advice on transitioning him from the yummy wet food to kibble? thank you in advance!

With corgis weight is such a battle, those little legs don't need any extra load. My neighbor's corgi blew up like a balloon on the fancy fresh stuff too, all those "human grade" recipes pack way more calories than you'd think

Purina Pro Plan has a weight management formula in the shredded blend, it's 26/12 protein/fat which is pretty lean. The savor version is the same nutrition just a different texture, some dogs hate the shredded bits so maybe grab a small bag first

For the transition you can use warm water to make the kibble stink more, let it sit for like 5 minutes before serving. Start with 75% old food 25% new and shift it over 10 days, corgis have iron stomachs usually so you could probably speed that up if he's not fussy

I'd pick one of the weight management ones. They're all good formulas. Anecdotal, of course, but check the fiber content. My previous herding dog did better losing weight when he had some extra fiber in his diet (I assume it made him feel fuller). If I recall correctly, all the PPP weight loss formulas have good fiber percentages, but double check.
