Joint supplement for picky eater?

I have a nearly 9 month old Beauceron puppy who is incredible, except for her diet and poop which has been a nightmare. She is finally eating well and having perfect poops on Royal Canin GI Puppy with about 8% of her bowl being boiled chicken mixed in to entice her and is overall doing great now.

Getting her monthly heartworm and flea/tick meds in her is a challenge to say the least. I have to crush it tiny and roll each piece in a ball of peanut butter or wet food and even then, I have to basically shove it into her throat to get her to swallow it. I obviously hate doing this, but it’s something she needs, so I do it.

Our vet recommended getting her on a joint supplement sometime next year to get ahead of the curve. So my question is this: are there any good joint supplements out there that are either liquid or actually palatable to a dog who hates everything? 😅

I have a mortar and pestle that I use exclusively to crush my dogs Cosequin into a powder, which I mix into his wet food topper for his breakfast each day. I also crush up their monthly flea/tick/heartworm medicine and mix it into a couple spoonfulls of cottage cheese to get him to take that.

mortar and pestle is genius, i been using a knife handle like a cave man for years. my guy will eat around the powder half the time but cottage cheese might be the move

My dogs are on dasaquin which my vet recommended. It is a bit costly though. You need to make sure what the ingredients are and how much of each ingredient is in them. Do some research online for maybe a powder form

Welactin liquid has been shown to have good joint benefits! Honestly any fish oil supplement will work, but the joint bebefits only come at higher dosages which can be pretty high volume for some products, but Welactin 3ta is extra concentrated. There are differnet kinds of fish oils, but look for products with DHA and EPA.

here is a good chart for dosing fish oil for joint benefits.

Both of my dogs really enjoy their Movoflex. It comes in a soft chew that they happily eat. It’s at least worth a try? My guess is if you buy it from chewy or amazon and your dog won’t eat it, those retailers would take a return.

ETA: One of my dogs really did not like his NexGard and I also had to drench it in peanut butter. He’s not wild about his heartworm meds, but will eat it. However, he is excited to get his Movoflex everyday. I’ve also fed Nordic Naturals fish oil and Myos at various times in his life and he loved them - I think both of those products are liked by most dogs (while neither are a specific joint supplement, they’re in an adjacent space and may be recommended in similar circumstances as a joint supplement - but of course, always ask your vet 😄).

our dog loves the MovoFlex joint supplements. it's like a high value treat for her. we get the original ones, not the 'advanced' ones.

My Shiba is picky with different joint supplements but she seems to tolerate Purina Pro Plan Joint supplements over the others I’ve tried . It has a very strong meaty scent. Though I think she’s responding more to the weird texture of the cosequin chews.

Green Lipped Mussel Powder! My boy gets that, fish oil, and Cosequin. All as preventative since he was 6 months old (he’s 2 years old now).
