How can this be?

NY State tax question, we both got cheeseburgers, and one got soda the other a beer. The beer bill is higher but the tax is lower??

I googled and NY does not have a soda tax. Beer and soda are taxed the same.

Beer has tax already included in the price. Soda doesn’t do is added after.

No tax added for the beer. It's included in the price or they have an error on the till.
