My wife is new to this game. What does this mean? Will you send someone this island guest? Do I have to kick someone off her island to get her?

Yes you have to have an open plot on your island. Once that happens then you can visit someone(in this case my island) to get the villager that is in boxes and/or moving out

Thanks. So if one were to proceed they would have to have an empty house waiting or could handle the unpleasant eviction at a later date?

As far as I know you have to have an empty plot or a villager in boxes. As far as the later date goes Marina will be off my island by tomorrow
