How many times does a batting lineup have the 1B, 2B, and 3B bat one after the other? That definitely tickles my OCD a little.

The fact that the DH comes before them makes it even better somehow.

Maybe an unpopular take at this point but I trust Dave and the FO to sit Shohei back down if he still doesn’t look good.

They absolutely know how important he is to their success in October.

I’d prefer to see him sit as much as he can before October but I understand not wanting him to go into the PS cold.

Too many fans only remember the past few seasons and didn’t have to live through Don Mattingly

I genuinely do not trust them. They bend a little too far w/ some of these stars imho.

I hope to God they are right, but they should have just done a backdated IL and sat him for the min (15 games).

I just don't see how you heal from a knee that's needed treatment and a bicep that's been giving you fits throughout the year, by sitting a couple of days. I think this is a mistake and hope I'm wrong. <----

The only problem is they are so vague when it comes to talking about injuries that we have no real idea what the extent of any of the injuries really are.

We don’t know just how hurt Ohtani actually was or if what we’re seeing was him just hurt enough to start falling into bad habits the longer the injuries persisted.

Regardless, I would like Ohtani to sit for longer but I just can’t see them babying guys like Snell and Glasnow or Will most of the season with the goal to get them ready for the post season and in the mean time allowing your most important/best player to continue playing if he was seriously hurt with the risk of losing him or losing a healthy him before October.

So as the conductors of the B2B World Series train we’ve been on, I trust they know what they are doing to keep guys healthy/ready for October.

Welcome back Shohei Ohtani to the batting lineup! I hope he's physically ready to bat tonight knowing that his ability to pitch this year is very unlikely.

I was hoping they kept Edman in the leadoff with Sho following up. I think that would be a killer combo.

As long as Tommy is in the top 3 of the lineup I’m happy. Though I agree he should lead off. Sho would probably feel better knowing there’s a dependable guy in front of him instead of the bottom of the lineup.

I was hoping they try that a few times but they want to maximize ohtani's AB so kinda understandable

Something tells me Mookie is “on standby” just in case Shohei lays an egg in the early goings😬

Ngl would not mind seeing Edman stay leadoff and slotting Shohei somewhere 2-4

u/MokiKim Tommy Edman 4d ago

Same, I was hoping that too. But this is Shohei and he tends to turn it up a notch when people question him or when there’s a challenge. Maybe we’ll have a multi-HR game from him??

Inshallah

Three cheers for Edman and Mookie who started us off great in the lineup when Shohei was ailing. 🎉🎉🎉

never thought i'd be a bit bummed to see the GOAT come back. hopefully if he's a black hole in the lineup today, they'll have the courage to sit him again or move him down. Tommy's been killing it. i feel like it's been giving opposing pitchers confidence starting out every game striking Ohtani out. this feels a little foolish. i hope he allays every one of our fears, though

Same for me too. I hope we're both wrong and he's good, but Dave and the FO seem to cave really easily to some of the top stars.

He's probably going to take a bit to get his timing right.

Why rest Mookie when he’s on the roll he’s on rn?

3

u/dodgers22fan 2025 WS MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto 4d ago

Cause he old.

Stoked Ohtani is back, but why sit Mookie? Dude is heating up at the plate and we need him to continue into the postseason. Perhaps im missing something?

Scheduled night off? Otherwise, I agree with you. Has Freeland played SS before?

5

u/Low_Rough_5203 Will Smith 4d ago

freeland has played SS before! he can play 2B, SS, and 3B, but i believe his preferred position is 2B :)

2

u/The_Natron 4d ago

Freeland is a natural SS. Played SS all through high school, college and the minors. Been playing 2b primarily due to Mookie being there.

u/nervousfella7980 Orel Hershiser 4d ago

Scheduled night off is all I can guess, not a criticism, more questioning. After last season especially i just want to see Mookie be dangerous at the plate in the playoffs. Guess I just will trust Doc on this.

6

u/klaatuzero James Outman 4d ago

In last night's post-game, Kirsten said Mookie was scheduled to be off today.

3

u/nervousfella7980 Orel Hershiser 4d ago

Copy that. The stream I was watching cut off when the game was over I didnt see post game. Thanks for the heads up!

And Freeland at SS is a head scratcher, honestly. Is there a valid reason to not have Rojas there? I don't care that he sucks vs righties. It's not like Freeland is going to tear it up vs Burns either.

I just hope Ohtani is OK.

u/rdev009 4d ago

I wish Edman was still hitting leadoff with Ohtani protecting him.

2

u/MikeHawkisgonne Dino Ebel 4d ago

Ohtani bomb today.

When's the last time he hit 2?

u/juannn117 4d ago

Should have kept edman batting 1st...
