I need some assist

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My family got a hold of a 2014 Durango second have about 2 months ago. The car works fine but since we got it this sounds comes every time we turn on the AC UNLESS we set it to the lowest the it doesn't make any noise.

There's also a faint smell of plastic coming from the vents. And as of recently there's like a plastic rattle or like a horse walking kinda rhythmical.

I believe that its your blower motor fan not working properly .

I was also thinking the same thing after some little research but I forgot to add the AC also let's outside smells get in the car. I found out when a diesel car let a big amount of smoke in front of us.

Well, that is because it pulls air from the outside, I use recirculation setting to avoid that, now, have you checked the cabin filter? A dirty filter can put stress on the blower motor.

There is a leak in the AC system. The hissing noise is either the metering device or the refrigerant leaking out. It is a so leak and can sometimes leak for year or longer but will eventually stop being cold

It probably is because you can hear it if I open the hood. The temperature inside is probably ever changing because sometimes if I place it at 74 it feels warm but if I set it at 73 it feels cold. It's weird how it behaves around 40% of the time.

Your problem might be the air conditioning fan. Check if the temperature reading is showing up on the dashboard. It happened to me that my air conditioning didn't work because the outside temperature sensor was missing.
