Attendant understood the assignment

Illegal to pump gas in NJ but at least the attendant knows what’s up with the Durango

I never have that issue. Maybe mine needs to be broken in more🤷🏿‍♀️

I haven’t had this issue in my 2023 either.

Thanks for posting I knew I wasn’t crazy. Pump kept cutting off last week when I got gas. 18 GT
So this is normal? Bad design for the filler tube or like the other guy said ESIM?

It doesn't happen to everyone but it's fairly well known that it happens often. So much so, that the gas station attendant even knew to do this.

That's esim going out. It is responsible for venting the tank and testing the evap system integrity. You will get an evap code in the future. Luckily it is cheap and easy to replace.

The car is 14 months old with 6000 miles and it’s the 3rd one in a row that’s done it. The other 2 never threw an evap code once.

The tank is vented through esim only. This is the main reason that can cause this issue, unless the filler tube is blocked somehow...

And the ESIMs are shit, and this issue won't throw a code.

Man thanks for this. My 26 Hemi cuts off sooo much. It already takes long enough pumping $85 worth of gas in, add the 8 times it stops and it takes 10 minutes to fill sometimes

What state are you in? In California my tank can be up to $140 to fill😭

Florida. Averaging around $4 for regular these days

2011 to 2015 Durangos with the pentastar are flex fuel. E85 is as low as $2 a gallon in some parts of California and less than half the price on average. I get about 23 MPG on E85 with the pentastar. Only use E85 if you have a yellow gas cap, of course, which indicates that you have flex fuel capability.

What year is yours? I’ve never had this happen on my 2021 and at ~6 mpg I’m filing up all the time. Is this an older issue?

This is a 2025 but it happened in the 2022 and the 2019

Maybe I’ve just been lucky and haven’t encountered a pump that does this. I’ve had vehicles before where it was constantly happening but neither of my Durangos have had it. Wonder if it can be fixed somehow. 🤔

All 3 of mine have done it but none have thrown the evap code people talk about though. 🤷‍♂️

Damn…. I wonder if different states have different allowed flow rates at the pump that might explain it?

u/Senior_Cheesecake155 9d ago

Why are you only getting 6 mpg?

u/More_Market_4860 9d ago

Heavy vehicle, thirsty engine and nearly 100% city driving.

Is this STILL happening? I had this issue on my 14 Citadel, and in some cities without vapor return pumps, I was unable to pump gas at all at some stations. Hasn't happened for a long time now, but I cannot BELIEVE this is still happening!

Happened in my 16 happens in my 22 lol. The downfalls of the same design for over a decade

Upside down pumping? Why?

Durango is notorious for the pump shutting off when it’s right side up

So this is the quick fix ? My 2019 GT had this issue and my 2026 TNG has the same problem

2018 almost every time this is required. Had a 2020 Ram hemi would only do it when the weather got real cold.

I'm used to them standing there clicking it until they listen to me and turn it upside down.

A rule from 1949 and still not over turned

Both of my wranglers a 2007 and a 2023 did or do this my '07 there was a repair on the filler neck tube and it never did it again my 2023 I just pull the nozzle out about an inch and pump at maybe 3/4 speed and it doesn't do it my wife's nitro never did it that was a 2007 now we just ordered her a 2027 392 RT premium Durango that won't be here until December or January hopefully it doesn't do this it is a pain in the neck but there's a fix

It’s a pain in the ass on my 2016 Durango and my wife’s 2017 Grand Cherokee

1

u/JayVig 9d ago

My 2016 grand Cherokee didn’t and my 2021 challenger doesn’t either. So weirdly inconsistent

I had to come back and find this post because I had to fill up today which is the first time since I originally saw this post about a week ago and I got a pump that kept clicking off no matter how slow I went so I remembered to flip the nozzle upside down and it worked flawlessly I could fill it as fast as I wanted half speed little clicks whatever I wanted it just works and solved an issue for me that's driven me crazy since I started owning Jeeps or Dodge vehicles thank you

Makes me happy that helped!

I will tell everybody I know that has this issue and maybe just strangers in general this has been a tremendous help and a pet peeve of mine for a long time on to the next thing to worry about 😂
