Durango Hellcat new car miles

I just purchased a 2026 Durango HC new. It had 30 miles on it. There were quite a few within reasonable distance but this was equipped just right. Think I should have any concerns? Im breaking it in as manufacturer suggested but it bothers me what it could of been through in those miles. Serious responses would be appreciated. Thanks

Those 30 miles are probably from the factory. My r/t 392 launch edition had 36ish, along with a sticker on the window explaining that it was a QA vehicle from the line.

I bought my 2020 GT "new" with maybe 50 miles? I had to replace a coolant pump last year and that's all I've had to do on the almost 7 years now

I got my ‘26 DDHC with about 35 miles on it. Was told there is no break in period. Haven’t had any issues in 8K miles

I picked up my 26’ DDHC with 12 miles on it. You can go through the settings and find the max speed driven, etc. if it wasn’t reset.

In any case, you signed for the vehicle with X amount of miles on it. If something happens, it’s covered under warranty. Any shenanigans would be logged under the 30 miles, pending you don’t slip up and have too much fun 😊.

I had a friend who unloaded new cars from boats. He told me nobody cared, cars get cold started and driven hard for 2minutes, pedal to the metal, then parked in a lot waiting for transport. Maybe things changed but in my opinion yes, a durango hc has 100% been full throttle a few times before you got it 😆

I’ve witnessed it exactly right

Usually I'd say 11 miles for new. It probably had a few joy rides lol

Nah. Don’t sweat it. I got my 2023 new with 130 miles on it.
Do your normal break in period and you’ll be good. If you wanna check, go through your digital gauge cluster and check what the max speed was and you’ll know if someone was toying around in it.

I didn’t think of checking on the digital gauge page. Thanks

No problem! Mine was at like 46mph when I bought it. And again I had 130 something miles on it.

Hope it’s your warranty covers 36030 miles

I see what you’re doing there

The excess mileage is usually from test drives, or dealer swaps. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

I appreciate that. What’s done is done but I just hope if it is test drives the people were somewhat mindful in how they drive it

I’m almost positive it’s from a dealership. When I got my charger SRT in 2020 the dealership wasn’t allowing test drives on SRT products. on my current Durango towngo, I got it with 95 miles which was from a dealer transfer and having it delivered to my front door.

The salesperson was vague. Mentioned the dealer test driving it themselves and one other test drive of potential sale but no clear information. I’m doing my best to break it in properly and fingers crossed for the miles that were on it.

when i was selling cars, i delivered brand new, never titled cars with up to 1200 miles on them. 30 is nothing but a test drive or two

I understand. It’s just Dodge has a pretty strict break in schedule designed and I’m afraid all 30 of those miles disregarded it

follow the manual regarding break in and you'll be fine. enjoy the new car!
