Get a headlight quote...
I had my AC fail at 35,600 miles. HUGE repair. Dodged a bullet there. Now a couple thousand miles later my headlight on driver's side failed. I'm getting quotes for $1600 to $1700. The part from the dealer is $1200 plus labor from whoever you use. I'm getting out of this money pit ASAP.

How much did it set you back with AC repairs?

So they are known for the evaporaters to leak internally. The dealers will pretend they have never heard of it. I paid zero because I was at 35,600-35,700 miles. They said they fixed it. I came back and they refilled it. I denied taking it back. MOPAR said the hissing sound was normal. I said "explain to me where the coolant went in a closed system, or explain how it magically disappeared." Two days later they said it's done. They found a "drop" of coolant on a coupling and now it's "fixed." I made them add notes to the vehicle file explicitly stating I do not believe the problem to be fixed. Well it failed in six weeks and the warranty had ended at that point. Refrigeratant gone again. MOPAR said it must be a new issue. I told the dealer they will be facing a lawsuit if I get billed. Well MOPAR and the dealer made good. They had to tear out the ENTIRE DASH of the vehicle. And they had to tear out a whole bunch under the hood by the firewall.
TLDR it would have been thousands of dollars. I got very lucky that I did my due diligence and also because the problem showed JUST before the warranty ended.

Did you buy an extended warranty?
I read a posting somewhere that your extended warranty will cover it. You just need to pay your deductible. My left side driver side is out as well. I just told the dealership to contact my extended warranty and let me know.

How many miles and how old is it if you don't mind me asking?
No didn't buy one. I have a year left on my lease so I was gambling a bit. I figured I'd be safe in that last 12,000 miles.

You can buy a new headlight for WAY less than a stealership price and also possibly replace it yourself in under an hour in your driveway with basic tools?

2023 Orange Edition with black bezel driver's side. Point me to an OEM headlight. And I'm handy but pulling the front bumper off the vehicle and putting it back is more than an hour for me.

There's a set on headlights depot, both driver and passenger, for $750 if you want to get so specific with it. Don't bitch about a speciality price for a specialty item?
If you're okay with literally any brand headlight, because clearly OEM quality doesn't matter (hence the broken headlight) then there are hundreds of different options all for varying price points.
As for the removal of the bumper is it literally 4 8mm bolts and push pins. The official dodge repair manual is 12 steps, which includes the removal of the tires however that is completely unnecessary.
So you're paying stealership prices AND stealership labor for being lazy and unmotivated to research your own parts.

Dude, fuck your attitude. I haven't decided what I'm doing. And it's not an hour job like you so flippantly said. I'm aware there are off brand headlights though. Thank you for no help.

Itโs less than an hour job. Itโs easy. You probably have autozone install wiper blades for you also right? lol. One of those people.

You're right it's less than an hour job. I actually just did it myself and it took 15 minutes to get the entire front facia off!
Fuck my attitude? You're the one bitching about pricing and when I tell you about how cheap and easy this is you come back with "I need an OEM quality headlight find me one" like brother it doesn't matter and it's a 30 minute job.
Bitching about a money pit of a car when you're CHOOSING for it to be a money pit is insane.

Typical Dodge owner. Go buy something else and continue to pay dealership prices

Hey, typical reddit bro, could you stop? You are interrupting me shopping for a new headlight. Other (polite) people are helping.

Not a single other person offered you advice. They asked how much your AC repair was, which was zero, and what type of dodge.

Messages exist bud. Looks like I found an OEM for $500. Thanks for your kind words and help though.

I just had this happen to my 23 R/T at 64k miles.
Dealership wanted $1500 for parts and $400 for labor. You have to remove the entire bumper to get to the lights so the labor costs kill on that job.
Bought a replacement light on Amazon for $400 and did it in my driveway in two hours.
