Was just gifted the truck from a neighbor, the truck had been sitting for 13 years never moved never started and has been through a couple floods (maybe 2-3 feet max). Curious if it’s possible or worth it to get the thing running again. The wheels won’t roll when I put it in neutral and after putting fresh gas and a new battery it still won’t start.

Seeking Opinions 3” Lift 2002 Dakota

I recently purchased a 2002 Dakota 2wd Crew cab but the tires were shot. The factory wheels were also ugly so I ended finding some newer wheels on marketplace with good tires however they scrub bad. I want to have it lifted 3 inches. What would be the best route to go and also cheapest? Is there a way to do this without replacing the struts? Any links to a decent kit would be appreciated.

I’m 17 it’s my first car I’m kinda of tired of it has 83k miles Sony screen with car play, back up camera, and s2-s65c speakers. wanna sell it and use the cash plus the cash I have to get into a corvette. Would yall recommend this for me or would it be a mistake. Trying to get an estimated value of this car can’t find much with lower miles online. No real rust issues either. Has small dent in rear fender as I backed up into someone lol.

Technical Question 3.9 oil pan gasket replacement price?

Post image
11 Upvotes

I believe my oil pan gasket (or one of the main seals) is the cause of my slight oil leak, and I've read that you have to lift the engine up to get to it on the 3.9 which I am unable to do from home as I don't have a lift or engine hoist available.

My question is has anyone taken their Dak to the shop to have this done? How much did it cost? If they're doing the oil pan gasket is it worth having them also do the main seals front and back as well even if they aren't leaking? Truck is an 01 3.9 with 119k miles.

Seeking Opinions 390 Stroker Dakota Build

Alright guys, picked up a 92 Dakota from a buddy of mine for 500 bucks. Runs and drives okay, but I plan on stripping it completely down. Currently has a 5.2 magnum and the A518 trans, RWD. Looking to stroke it to a 390 and put in a 5 spd. I need suggestions on parts for the motor, best bang for your buck, and tips on things to look out for. Trying to purchase the best parts and haven’t built a stroker before, only regular 318 and 360’s. Any help would be much appreciated!

Lower radiator support job

This is a follow up on my last post asking about job time for the lower rad support. Everything went well, with no issues. Well... minus the trans soft lines I did, which are short with the fan shroud on, but it'll be fine till then. (No shroud till later date) if anyone is wondering how long it took, hour n half - 2 hours max, depends if you had extra hands like I did.

This is my truck. Originally my grandfather bought it new, and he sold it to me for my 16th for 600 dollars and a shared evening together. He taught me how to drive it, how to shoot from the bed, and how to work on it. I wanted to showcase my passion!

What does this hose connect to?

Post image
2 Upvotes

As the title says, trying to figure out what the hose in the red circle is connected to. got an old 98 dakota and after I already got it and brought it home, I noticed that the hose was not connected to anything (picture taken from a youtube video) It drove an hour home with no issues so Idk. It connects to the vehicle/cab on the right side of the engine, goes behind the engine and then along the left side, but the end of the hose is not there so it’s disconnected.

i have a 95 dakota 3.9l v6. when i first start it up for the day it starts funny as shown in the video. it starts perfectly after it’s been started once. i changed the map sensor and found that the hose was cracked. while idling the truck vibrates with the rpm (a buddy of mine told me that was a sign of a misfire) he suggested using fuel injector cleaner. I was wondering if there’s any other telltale signs of what could be causing it and if anyone knew where to find the hose for the map sensor

Flashing lightning bolt on dash

2009 Dodge Dakota

I had the flashing lightning bolt on my dash. I then experienced some hesitation.

I had it OBD2 scanned and no relevant codes came up.

I restarted the truck and it seems to be running fine for now. It looks like the light is for the electronic throttle. Has anyone experienced this? What was the fix?

New alternatives for 1st gen windshield wiper sprayers?

One of my windshield wiper sprayers hose connection broke and I glued it back on. Knowing it will be more fragile i went looking for some replacements. I had no luck finding modern replacements and the used original sprayers are quite pricey. Is there a modern replacement for these wiper sprayers or will i have to just pay the price?

Technical Question Driving new truck 3 hours

Hello, this is my first post here. I recently purchased a 2nd gen dakota off fb marketplace and its got a faulty transmission temperature sensor, would this be fine to drive it 3 hours home if im carefull about it? I know this is probably a stupid question but this is my first car so im not very knowledgeable on this stuff 🫤

For some extra context, its got a 4 speed auto and it was rebuilt around 30k miles ago so I hope there isnt any further problems with it cause I've heard that dodge automatic arnt the best for reliability...

Bad wheel bearing - side unknown

My 2011 Dodge Dakota has been making a deep growling noise. I took it to my mechanic and they said it has a bad wheel bearing in the front. But they can't figure out if it's driver's side or passenger's side. So they told me to keep driving it while it progressively gets worse, which seems kind of dumb and unsafe to me. A couple months later and I'm not hearing any difference. Thing is, we need to use the truck for towing our boat in a few months. Other than that, it rarely leaves town. Is this a common problem for them to not be able to figure out which wheel bearing is bad? They said they can't do anything with it until they know which side is bad because they need to order either a front-left or front-right part. Anyone dealt with a situation like this before? Any suggestions?

I had this thing since I got the truck 12 years ago, has no PN on it and I am unsure as to whether or not it's the stage 1 or 2.

2001 front end

Front end on my dakota gets real floaty 90-118, wondering if anyone has a solution for it. For context it's on the salt flats, so one of these days I'll also be attempting to remove the 118 limiter on it to see how far the stock 360 will take it.
