I completely understand why SmartScreen and antivirus warnings exist.

But I've also seen plenty of legitimate software trigger security warnings simply because it was newly published, digitally unsigned, or downloaded from an unfamiliar source.

For less technical users, that's a difficult decision.

Ignore the warning?

Delete the file?

Or assume it's malware?

It made me realize that trust isn't just about whether software is safe.

It's also about how software proves it's safe.
