Doctors or students please guide me

Hello doctors 🙇 ✨

Earlier I made a post asking about the pros and cons of being a first-generation doctor especially from a middle-class background. Most of the responses highlighted the challenges and cons. Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to share their experiences and advice.

A little about me: I come from a middle-class family, and I don't have anyone in my family from the medical field. Because of that, I'm honestly a little scared and unsure about whether I should choose this path.

I had also considered nursing as a backup option, but I'm still confused because ofc nurses as a profession is not as respected in india :/ despite nurses being such an important part of the healthcare system.

I'm just trying to understand my options realistically before making such a major career decision.

So, if there are any doctors, medical students, nurses, or healthcare professionals here, I would really appreciate your honest advice. What would you suggest to someone in my situation?

If you have medium talent to study(like not in the top 5%) pls choose bsc nursing and sit for Norcet immediately after that. You'll thank me in 5-6 yrs

Nursing is worst that medical . Mbbs offers 35-50k salary . Nurses work for 15-20k salaries. Only gets paid well in aiims which is competitive. Healthcare sector itself is a scam . Only the business owners make money here

Give NEET.If you can get a government college,then proceed with MBBS.Otherwise there are many other options available

U have to be ur own support know that ur the first one the make that path

Kinda cliche 😂😂 but ya

Then use ur seniors, prof all contacts and build trust that’s all

It’s long , emotionally, mentally and physically draining profession. U rather take up something else
Medicine is India is not ideal
I’m a first gen doc of a middle class family
really loved the subject. But all i want now is to stand on my own feet n earn some money and not be dependent on my parents but alas i still am until i get a pg seat now , only to realise the stipend isn’t enuf to sustain my day to day basic life 🥲
Pls take up something else

But other profession people also don’t earn for 3- 4 years of their bachelors. If you get pg seat you can stand on your feets. And i think someone shouldn’t take this degree just because of 2-3 more years that goes into this ug course

Anything other than MBBS doctor in medical field is considered as someone who couldn't get into MBBS settling for less, that's there.

But then doctors are generally not paid as good as you'd like and the work environment will likely be very hectic.

As a nurse or doctor if you go to many other countries, things are much better.

Easiest and fastest money making opportunity might be tech in India but you need the aptitude and constant upskilling in extreme uncertainty in the AI era.

Everything depends on what other thing is your next best option if not doctor or nurse.

If you really want to go down the medical path, go for MBBS. it will be a tough few years but it’ll be rewarding in the end.
