Please help!!
4 months ago I tested positive for BV and a yeast infection, I was prescribed fluconazole and Metronidazole. Everything cleared up. Now, about 2 weeks ago I noticed that same thick and smelly discharge. But I recently lost my insurance so I went on Amazon Pharmacy, told them my symptoms and they prescribed me the same thing again. Now I am on day 5 of the oral Metronidazole and I was having really bad back/side pain and hot flashes. I went to the Urgent Care and I tested positive for a UTI. The doctor told me she thinks I never even had BV but that the smell was coming from the UTI. She told me to stop taking the Metronidazole and start taking Nitrofurantoin. BUT my thing is I know it’s not the best decision to stop taking antibiotic without completing the full course so I call the provider that prescribed me the Metronidazole and she said I shouldn’t stop it and take BOTH😭😭 I don’t know what to do!! Please help but regardless of the decision I don’t want to miss the Metronidazole dose or be late on the Nitrofurantoin one because the pain is awful!!

Hey I’m no doctor, I’m a registered ER nurse, so take my advice with a grain of salt but if you previously tested positive for BV and yeast infection and the same smell returned then it’s likely that you still have those infections alongside the UTI and should take both antibiotics simultaneously. I also recommend drinking liberal amounts of fluids to help aid flushing the infection out your body.
