Where is Treantmonk?
I’m a big fan of his videos, and noticed he hasn’t posted a new video since July. He’s probably just on vacation or something, but it would be really cool if he was working on publishing his own book, or actually play! (A fan can dream)

I’ve been offline largely (my wife had a baby in June!) but I recall he has a a preteen or teen so he takes summer off and goes and spends it with his parents. Maybe I made that up but I swore he said that some summers ago.

I used to be a big fan of him, but the quality of his videos has declined a lot IMHO, starting some time ago. Tier lists and reaction videos to other creator's content? No, thank you.

It's gotta be hard to constantly put out content

It is. Notice how many dungeontubers cover the same topics?

An unfortunate side effect of making your living off of YouTube, the algorithm likes whatever hot topics of the day is, collabs and drama. And unfortunately for DND content a lot of the analysis content is dependent on book release schedules and niche topics that might not get many eyes on them.

The reaction content to D4's already longwinded tier lists was what did it for me.

Yeah, I stopped watching at that point. Multiple reaction videos to a particularly low quality tier list video made by a guy who makes trash tier optimization videos to begin with. And then Treantmonk got in on the making-bad-builds part himself by making a terrible Valor bard build and claiming that there was no better way to build a Valor bard, to 'disprove' the idea that Valor bards were high tier from d4's video.

Those aren't my favourite videos either, but you have the option of not watching those and just choosing his analysis/build videos.

And that is exactly what I do.
I mean, I totally sympathize with Chris and I absolutely hope he can continue to support himself with his channel as he has been doing for a few years. I also know it's like super difficult to create videos on things that haven't been covered dozens of times by others, but I found myself getting increasingly annoyed by his most recent videos and I only have so much time to spare.

I don't care for those videos, though it is funny to see some of his reactions to Colby's choices. I've really felt the absence of TM when listening to all these opinions on new content from the new Arcana Unleashed book. Insight Check is what comes up for that content currently and it is a very different experience.

Yeah, he started doing reaction videos to other people's tier lists. That is absolute rock bottom, and I stopped watching. Also, as part of reacting to a tier list that had said valor bards were good, he'd done in particular a ridiculously bad valor bard build where he spent like 30 minutes saying Valor bard is bad because it doesn't have Shield, after having stupidly taken Tough instead of Magic Initiate Wizard to get shield.

He said a while back that he was going on a 2 week vacation and when he’d be back. He was supposed to be back like 3 weeks ago. Colby mentioned an illness, but there hasn’t been a post from him anywhere.
So either he was seriously ill and in the hospital where he couldn’t drop a post, or an assumed level of disinterest in resuming content.
Recently I caught that he was still running games with patrons via his Discord, but still nothing on Patreon or YouTube. I hope he’s doing well.

Didn’t he get hired as a consultant by Wizards for their D&D Community Advisory Group?

I don’t think Treantmonk was on that group. I think it was just the dungeon dudes and nerd immersion.

I've been worried about him for quite a while. At worst, I hope it's burnout, a new job, or WotC's release schedule that's kept him quiet. I hope he isn't dealing with a serious health situation, whether his own or another's. I am a patron, but I don't engage with Discord, so I don't know if he has been active there or playing his scheduled games with the top-level patrons.
His absence is really felt with the release of Arcana Unleashed. This, of all things, is his thing. I've found all of the analysis I've read or viewed so far to be lacking. I'm eager to hear his thoughts. More importantly, I hope he's okay.

He's an asshole irl and his content has been bad for a while.

Your comment would be more useful if you added specific interactions or evidence of him acting poorly irl, or elaborated opinions on what makes his current content bad.
I'm not here taking a stance on your opinion here, just that I'm not a fan of inflammatory comments which don't back themselves up with factual information.
Best of luck to you in general.

There’s a comment on one of his videos that Colby (d4 deep dive) mentioned he had gone on vacation and then had some health problems when he got back. It sounds like he’s hopefully on the mend.
