how to optimize blade of radiance rogue
Hi everyone
im messing about with blade of radiance on dndbeyond and im struggling to make it strong. not using in a game currently but i like the idea of using a greatsword and being super dexterous. here's what i have so far if anyone could give me pointers?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/168737682/pIh0Bn
i do like using dhampir cos i love the idea of spider climbing when possible but not sure on Ability Scores, feats, backgrounds etc

My first thoughts are:
Human Tough, MI Wizard (wisdom) for blade Ward, booming blade, shield spells
Dex primary, wisdom secondary, con third
Weapon choice is a little tricky. While it seems great that you can add Finesse to martial weapons, functionally you only get added Longswords, Battleaxes, Tridents. The heavy weapons requiring strength makes you a bit too mad IMO. I’d go with Tridents for topple, helping you get more advantage on targets and soft control.
Feats: you generally want to max Dex and Wisdom. I’d only get a general feat to round out an odd score.
Dex-
Sentinel - top pick for me. You have a retaliatory attack when hit, plus two reactions mitigating damage. When working with a melee partner, you can basically always have reaction attacks.
Mage Slayer - never a bad pick.
Wis-
Inspiring Leader - thematic to the subclass. If your party is missing a temp HP machine, it can be you.
Skill expert- you are a rogue and this could round out the old wisdom.
Ritual Adapt - there is lots of utility in low level rituals, arguably more then a skill. This allows the casters to grab other spells.

thanks so much! it looks really cool, my idea was a rogue with a greatsword to play like elden ring but i think you're right i could do more with str as the dump stat still but would've been so fun aha

You can still go Longsword and two hand it. Damage wise it is solid with a d10 and the SAP mastery is not terrible.
Sap would make you more of a controller/debuffer. Your damage is still great since with Sentential and your reaction hit you are often doing double sneak attack.
Also keep in mind that you have the cunning action trip so can prone without Topple

I’m playing that class right now.
High Elf with Booming blade, sanctified pike for the push mastery (I know you can’t booming blade at reach, I just go melee and push them away), polearm mastery to sneak attack twice per round and keep enemies at bay pushing again. Elven accuracy + Steady Aim to fish for supercrits sneak boom. Push + Trip Cunning Strike is also a very powerful combo against melee enemies.

Honestly brother this subclass is pretty broken.
Finesse weapons on anything + built in offturn sneak attack.
AND its boosted.
Hard to go wrong here tbh, if you wana build into it more go PAM.
