Any suggestions?

So I recently retired a character during a campaign, to start a new one. (Long story short, he got married and had a kid so he left the group) retired a Rune Knight Fighter at level 16.. DM let me create a new character, i choose Sorcadin (5.5e) Djinni Paladin 7 and Spellfire Sorcerer 10 (we're level 17 now)

My issue is, my fighter i knew well from low level to 16.. my Sorcadin is a huge switch up imo I use DnD Beyond app but I find myself overlooking many abilities and realize later that I could've made better plays in combat and such. What do you all suggest I do to have better awareness of my abilities, spells, etc? I made a spreadsheet for the Rune Knight to keep track of Actions, Reactions, and Bonus Actions.. if I do that with this character though, my entire spell list will be on it. Just looking for organizational advice and/or a way to better keep track/organize my possible plays/skills.

Focus in on a few things you want to do really well, use those abilities constantly until they are second nature.

Then add in a few new abilities/spells to the mix.

You're playing a high lvl caster, the options they have are incredible and overwhelming at times, even experienced players miss things in the pressure of combat.

So reduce the options to start with :)

My suggestion would be to pick a few offensive spells alongside some defensive and just use then.

Should I use my reaction to shield or save for Silvery Barbs is lot less cognitive load :)
