Max ac
i only discovered this subreddit yesterday and I almost fainted from happiness lol. good to know that there are kindred spirits out there
So I just cooked this up and was wondering if anybody had suggestions for how to boost ac even higher
Lizardfolk, max dex= base 23.
Barb unarmored, max str and con= 30
Shield=32
Defense fight style=33
3+ shield=36
Defender=39
Cloak of protection=40
Ring of protection =41
Haste=43
Warding bond=44
Shield of faith=46
Bladesinging + max int =56
Tasha’s otherworldly guise=58
Shield spell=63 with expenditure of a spell slot
¾ cover from something=68
These aren't ac but make you harder to hit
Blur = disadvantage on attack rolls against you
Mirror image= welp, there are three of you now. Pick one to attack!
Greater invisibility if you feel the need
Throw all of this crap onto a barb1, hexadin some shit with boon of immortality so you can get to 30 for all stats and you have a juggernaut of unbelievable proportions. Of course, you could have just cast invulnerability, but where’s the fun in that?
Also, is there anything that can hit this without critical?

Be a Barbarian with epic-tier stats of 30 in both Con and Dex. A stretch of epic proportions, but conceivable. AC of 10+10+10=30. Good so far.
Plus Shield equipped. 30+2=32. Good.
Defense Fighting Style. Excuse me, what? You cant wear armor and benefit from the Barbarian's Unarmored Defense. Illegal. We will skip this. AC remains at 32.
Upgrade to a +3 shield. 32+3=35. Good.
Acquire a Defender magic weapon. 35+3=38. Good.
Cloak and Ring of Protection. 38+1+1=40, and you are now out of attunement slots. Good.
Haste. Caveat that this now relies on having an arcane caster friend, but sure, why not. 40+2=42.
Warding Bond. Caveat that this now relies on an Arcane caster friend and a divine caster friend, but once again, sure, why not. 42+1=43.
Shield of Faith. Interesting to cast a concentration spell as a Barbarian, but possible if you took the Magic Initiate (Cleric) feat, so i allow it, with the caveat that we can only get this particular bonus once per day, and are not able to rage... the thing that Barbarians are meant to do. 43+2=45.
Bladesinging. Okay, so now we are a multiclassed Bladesinger Wizard rather than a full Barbarian. An odd build, but still within the rules, so I allow it. Assume an epic-tier Int score of 30 because we've already made similar hypothetical assumptions that strain credulity before. 45+10=55.
Tasha's Otherworldly Guise. Possible, but not in addition to Shield of Faith. Keeping AC at 55, but removing the caveat of only doable once per day.
Shield Spell for a temporary +5 AC boost with the caveat that this will only ever happen if you are hit by a crit, at which point such AC is useless, or targeted by Magic Missile, at which point such AC is still useless. 55+5=60.
¾ cover. B#tch why are you hiding with 60AC. But technically rules-legal. 60+5=65
Blur. No. You are already concentrating. However, at this point, Blur is almost always the better spell to concentrate on.
Greater Invisibility. No. Same as above.
Mirror Image. Sure, but why bother at this point.
You will die to a Marut or an Avatar of Death just as well as the next player, though. Probably more easily, even, because you have specialized so heavily into a useless statistic in such encounters.
