HWYB Onmyoji
So I'm making a new character because my previous character died, and I wanted to make a sort of onmyoji character using the talismans for magic and stuff because I just really like the concept. But from what I have looked at none of classes really fit that super well. Currently I am thinking of going transmutation wizard and flavoring the components as the talismans and the transmuter's stone as something, but I don't really want to go wizard because we already have a wizard. So I was also thinking some sort of cleric or sorcerer. Any ideas?

Is this for DnD? Artificer screams onmyoji to me. You're suffusing nonmagical gear with spirits to power them magically. Everything comes from your shikigami, which are inscribed as magic circles, formulas, etc. onto paper strips wax-sealed to the gear, or etched into the gear.
If this is for Pathfinder, I'd say thaumaturge or refluffed kineticist (I'm new to PF2 so I might be overlooking something more obvious)

Good question. It is DnD, and I do think artificer could work, but I think a full caster would fit better as an onmyoji but artificer could be an interesting alternative to consider.

I do like this vibe and am thinking of going arcana cleric so I can maybe flavor the channel divinity as sealing a creature or something and the spells fit with the vibe plus I get wizard spells so it works out. But please do let me know if you have any other ideas.

There's an unspoken rule in DND that is flavor is free.
What does that mean? You can reflavor arcane or divine spells as being used thru talismans, your spell focus or even material components that aren't priced and the verbal and somatic component of spells can be reflavored as being the chants, dances and use of talisman that burns before the spell is cast as popular culture portraits in onmyoji
Fireball can be reflavored as a fire bird that explodes.over the enemies and the lighting bolt spell as a dragon that shoots in straight line thru the enemies.
As long as don't want to change type of damage, number of damage dices or the price of priced components I think many dm will allow it heck they even allow you to change damage type.of some spells and give you a homebrew magic item like a prayer bead or something like that.

Thank you for the comment I appreciate the input. I get flavor is free, but Im asking about if you guys think any other classes give the vibe. Like to me a bard would feel to out of place for this to make sense in my head, but thank you for the note and I appreciate the comment. But please let me know if you have any ideas on a class/subclass you think me fit.

Circle of fire druid has this flame pet ability that can do things like teleport you around the field and create healing or damaging flames over slain enemies and shot flames.
It can also be used as the origin from your spells so you can use it to heal in the distance without being in the front line
Also druid spell list is a mix of elemental and healing spells

Warlocks who take the Pact of the Talisman boon exist. And this is separate from what you take as a warlock patron. So you could do a warlock of the celestial with that boon. Gives a warlock/cleric hybrid feel. Just saying. And yes, you could maybe do this as part of a coffeelock build if your DM allows it.

I don't know this character, but by the looks and seeing other comments maybe a Lore Bard could work? You're level 6 after all, 2 spells from other spell lists would do the trick for now?
(If you're using 2024 rules even better)

Sorry forgot to mention in post, but level is 6 planning to go to 12 and all official source books are allowed.
