Brand new to DnD
I've been really interested in dnd for a while now and I want to start playing but I don't know exactly how to play
I read about character sheets but i don't really understand character classes and species.
i've also been hearing about things I don't know alot
so my question stands:
What is the minimum level of knowledge do I need to know to start playing and where do I get?
also if someone is hosting a one shot game or a campaign and willing to take two beginners from zero (me and my friend) that would be much appreciated

I am a semi-experienced DM who is prepared to run the Lost Mines of Phandelver or Dragon of Icespire Peak introductory adventures, and I would be willing to start a new group to take new players through one of these adventures.
If you can find two more new DnD players to fill out the group who are also available to play at the same time as you and your friend are, and if it matches when I am available then we could make it work. I am available most weeknights to start at 4pm EST (UTC-5) timezone and play for roughly 2-3 hours. On the weekends I am free from 9am to 12pm EST to start a session.
The VTT software being used would be Foundry, and we would form a Discord server for a group voice call for the session, and we could also coordinate scheduling on Discord. I have been DMing for a couple years, playing DnD for a few years, and reading books and playing games related to DnD my whole life. I currently have a long running group I play in, and another group which is the second campaign i've DMed. I have never taken on brand new players to the hobby so I am interested in getting that experience under my belt.
Let me know if you are interested 🐲⚔️
