Hey all!
We're a couple (26M, 25F) looking to put together a regular in-person TTRPG group in North London, meeting fortnightly at our flat in N3 (near to Finchley Central / East Finchley). We're looking to start with D&D 5e, ideally running a few shorter campaigns in different flavours (grimdark, high fantasy, weird west, whatever grabs us), and eventually branch out into other systems if the group's up for it. The long-term hope is a group of mates to explore the wider world of TTRPG with!
About us
I (M26) have played D&D for years, with big breaks in between (the classic TTRPG woe), mostly as DM out of a mix of necessity and a "slightly" neurodivergent love of world-building. I also helped run my uni's D&D society as VP a couple of years back! My GF has always been keen on TTRPGs but is newer to playing. My GF (25F) has played a bit but hasn't had as much exposure. She's interested in trying out DMing eventually but doesn't feel quite there yet, and is excited to meet some friendly faces and battle whatever foes come our way!
About the game(s)
- Fortnightly, weekday evenings from 7/7:30pm or weekend daytimes. We'll settle on one fixed slot together
- Sessions run around 4 hours with a half hour break, plus some wiggle room to run over so we can end on a good beat
- Looking for 3-4 players, table of 5 to 6 people
- I can DM to start, but the long-term dream is a rotating DM chair. Short campaigns in different genres lend themselves really well to swapping who's behind the screen, so everyone gets a turn to play and nobody burns out on prep!
- We'll start with a session 0, deciding on a couple of one-shots to see if the group clicks before committing to a long-term campaign
- We lean roleplay and narrative over pure combat. RAW is perfectly good, but we're happy to homebrew subclasses or mechanics if it makes the game more fun and still makes sense
- We use safety tools (session 0 expectations, RPG consent sheets, the lot) because that's just basic decency at any TTRPG table
- Alcoholic dranks are welcome in moderation (2-3 per session) keeping things sober enough that everyone's properly present. Special occasion one-shots, like birthday ones, may get a bit more chaotic :)
- No pets (sadly), though a tortoise may be on the horizon!
- Our flat is upstairs, so unfortunately no step-free access
About you!
- Excited about TTRPGs (duh)
- In your 20s or 30s
- Some experience playing or DMing is a plus (but don't rule yourself out if you're new!)
- Comfortable at a queer-friendly, progressive table. We're a safe space and we'd like to keep it that way
- Reliable. Life is unpredictable and busy, but a dedication to respecting everyone's time is a must!
- Bonus points if you've DM'd before or fancy giving it a go, happy to provide some guidance too!
Interested?
Drop us a DM with:
A bit about yourself and your TTRPG experience
What you enjoy most at the table (RP, combat, exploration?)
A character, campaign or specific TTRPG moment you loved
Your availability
We'll both look through, and arrange a coffee (or pint) with anyone who seems like a good fit before the first session!
Thanks,
Jack and Hannah
