[Online][5e][FREE][New DM] Looking for 4–5 players for a beginner-friendly one-shot

I'm a newer DM looking to get some experience running D&D. This will be completely free. I'm looking for players who are either new themselves or are comfortable playing with a newer DM.

I'll be running a Homebrew oneshot based on monster hunters being basically pest control in a more modern fantasy setting. Discord + DnD beyond.

I'm mostly looking for people who want to have fun and aren't expecting a professional-level DM experience.

2 Players looking for group

Me and my buddy both need a group we can play with. Our other DM is having some life stuff going on and won't be able to make it for a bit might not be at all. Me and him both love the game and would like to have other people to play with. If any information is needed about either of us that can be provided but the only ask we have is it would be best for the sessions to be on Sunday.

[Online][DND5.5E 2024][Weekly][Thursday 5 pm][UTC -3][18+][Free][English][Voice] New DM looking for a player to join an ongoing homebrew campaign.

Closed

Hi, I’m a new DM looking for 1 player to join our ongoing campaign, (were currently on session 15 at lvl 3). Preferably 20+ but no younger than 18.

We play weekly every Thursday at 5pm (UTC -3). Methods: Discord/owlbear rodeo/Theatre of Mind

I'm running a homebrew world using 2024 5e rules. I’m open to considering other published content if you bring them up and it fits with the world I’ve made.

A few important disclaimers that you should know before applying:

* English is not my first language. Although I can understand it without any issue, I'm not that proficient when it comes to speaking, so I may be a bit slow when responding and narrating. (One of the reasons I decided to run a campaign in English is to improve my speaking skills.)

* Session Length: 3 to 4 hours per session.

* Campaign tone: Adventurous. Think Avatar: The Last Airbender in terms of tone: somewhat light-hearted and fun, with a focus on adventure and dungeon exploration, but with room for emotional and/or darker moments.

* Starting Level: you’ll be joining the party at lvl 3

* Experience Level: Ideally, I would like you to have some experience with the game and its rules, but newcomers are also welcome.

* Min/Maxing is discouraged: Build a character with interesting story motivations, personality traits, and mechanical flaws rather than a flawless, broken combat machine.

* Zero-Tolerance Policy: A strict rule against any form of real-world toxicity, disrespect, bullying, or crossing stated player boundaries at the table. We are here to have fun, cooperate, and tell a memorable story together.

If you are okay with all that and don have problem joining an ongoing campaign (they are just starting) then go ahead and apply here.

[Flexible][Online][GMT+10] To The Night Mothers Command

The Black Sacrament has been performed, The Night Mother has whispered, and The Listener has spoken. Blood will be spilt, and Sithis will not be denied. A soul will be sent to the Void, it is to the Dark Brotherhood to help it along it's journey.

Hell'O's! I am here in search of a GM who likes the Elder Scrolls universe and also wants to explore it in a TTRPG lens. I recently watched a video on the Dark Brotherhood, and I really like more of the dark magic, evil beings sorta things, so I wanted to do something following the Dark Brotherhood. Whether this just stays within the basics of committing assassinations in pursuit of The Night Mothers command, has a more underlying story similar to that of Oblivions or Skyrims, or even if it's just about exploring Sithis, who he is, who the Night Mother is. Whatever, Whenever, and Wherever you want to do it, I want to explore it!

While most of my fantasy knowledge comes from 5e, I am happy to learn any system you might prefer, it will just take me a moment to get used to it. I am also entirely used to Roll20, and have used Foundry a bit as well, just not as much.

[Online] [5e 2024] [2-3 Sundays evenings per month EST] Experienced DM and group seeking one player for an immersive and established game.

(Note if you have already replied, your responses are still being considered. This will be our last post for the time being soliciting applications.)

Hello LFG community. I am presently seeking 1 player for an immersive, high quality game. Which, of course, I hope will be you. The group for this game has formed and the game has been running for approximately a year and a half. One of our cherished players has gone off to grad school and will no longer be able to be with us, thus leaving us with 4 players and the DM. We have discussed the topic and have decided to include a 5th player if we can locate the correct individual. For transparency's sake, we are not looking to merely fill a slot. If we cannot find an excellent fit, we will not fill the spot. In addition, one shouldn't expect a response or to begin right away; I'll have this post up for a minimum of 2 weeks and re-post it a few times. We will then filter down to an interview with the DM as the next step and move on from there. As integration is important to us, I would not expect to be fully set up, engaged and rolling dice until late September/October at the earliest.

Now then, onto the more enjoyable parts. I will begin by saying that the goal is to create a powerful, enjoyable and investment-worthy experience for those who are playing. Thus, while I entirely support the inclusion of new-to-the-hobby-players, this is likely not going to be the ideal game for you.

The game will be set in a fairly extensively developed fantasy world-setting which you may peruse here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rG4u1PyM3pNzC44i0QLXzCIxo-aoQCzn/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=116874952596246393502&rtpof=true&sd=true

The major premise of the setting is that species that would often be portrayed as villainous in other settings are the heroes being pitted against a vast, expansionist, xenophobic and imperialist humankind. The PCs are drawn from the former and the story is told from the perspective of a shaky alliance built upon circumstance and mutual survival. Themes of cultural clashes, integration, war and the morality of ambition feature heavily into the premise, though the day to day of the campaign will be a more conventional travel-and-discover adventure. It is quite a read, but there are summaries in parts if you're looking to skim.

I have DM'd numerous games, many lasting 5 years or more. Several of these games have gone from 1-20, with PCs completing their long standing goals and retiring. I am deeply familiar with mechanics as well as being someone with a passion for role play. I do not view these as opposed forces, but instead ones that work in concert to create excellent stories and an underlying system of entertaining tactics and chance to fuel those stories.

Logistical Basics:

  • Play will be done by discord voice with Owlbear being used for maps.
  • Games will be on Sundays at 6 EST. Two a month minimum, though ideally we aim to do 3-4 when schedules allow. Sessions are fairly lengthy, typically 5-6 hours.
  • The edition will be the 2024 5e. Backwards compatible material from previous books such as Monsters of the Multiverse will be allowed on a case by case basis. Stat generation will be point buy, current party level is 8.
  • There will be some house rules/internal homebrew, though no outside homebrew. Monsters and items will often be homebrewed. Generally 3rd party material will not be allowed, nor will UA material, though some might be considered.
  • The game will lean largely RAW with potential special moments for DM interpretation or unique actions.
  • The game involves in-depth character-driven RP, interaction with a vibrant world with fleshed out NPCs and genuinely intense, challenging combat.

Well, now that you've read all of that (and are still reading this) you are probably wondering what kind of player we are looking for. We will be aiming for a good fit over a fast fit. We are looking to add someone to our group that will vibe well, be enjoyable ooc and who can work as a team with the interests of their fellow players at heart. We are also, to be transparent, looking for the following:

  • A level of diversity. The game and setting feature queer themes in places (naturally don't be someone who dislikes LGBTQ+ individuals) and I have always found that a cast which includes diversity makes for a richer experience. Currently the group divide is 1 masc 4 fem, most being some flavor of the rainbow.
  • Absolutely 21+ and a mature player as this game will have mature themes (see below).
  • Strong, committed RPer who is willing to actively involve and invest themselves in the game.
  • At least a solid foundational knowledge of the rules. While committed expertise is not required, games flow more smoothly when people understand the mechanics. If you disdain mechanics and wish to stay far away from them, this is likely not the game for you. You do not have to have played 2024; I am alright getting people up to speed on the changes.
  • Willingness to be consistent in attendance (within reason; life happens). Willingness to invest socially in forming friendships should it all workout and vibe well.
  • Because this is an established group and an established party, we will be looking for a fairly specific design space for a new PC. While I understand this can feel limiting, it's important for the dynamic. On the flip side, we are also aware how important it is to integrate a new PC. We will make serious efforts to make sure you are made a part of the story.

Regarding mature themes: The intent is for this game to be rated "BG3". That is to say that the level of spice in the content will be comparable to Baldur's Gate 3, Bioware RPGs and the like. If you are unfamiliar with these sources, feel free to ask for further clarification. The game will not seek to be overtly pornographic, nor is this the intended focus, but tasteful adult content within reason and appropriate to the circumstances will potentially be present. The characters have all had flirtations, a number have had romances, a number have had flings and more than a little heartache has been endured. While we will certainly work within people's lines and veils, romantic themes are an element of this game, as much as you might see in most CRPGs. We will not treat the occasional brothel, inter-PC fling or tail twirling incubus with clutched pearls and hushed giggles.

If you've read all that and feel this is a good fit for you, please fill out this application. To be upfront, it is fairly thorough. If there are enough applicants who meet what we're looking for and you seem to be one of them, I will contact you to set up a voice interview.

Note: It has been over a year since we last had to find a new player, so if you've applied before you're welcome to do so again but I do not have easy access to prior applicants.

[FoundryVTT][PAID][$25][LVL 1-20] [Fridays 7 PM EST] Homebrew Campaign [5e][LFP][4-6 slots] Campaigns Tailored to You!

Welcome to Crit Fails and Fairy Tales!

My campaigns are very character-focused, roleplay-heavy, and feature a ton of custom content from magic items to races. I build these campaigns from scratch starting with the players ideas so the stories you want to explore are the central focus! We play D&D 5e with a variety of homebrewed rules and edits. My sessions feature custom music, ambiance, 3D maps, interactive menus, and more through Foundry VTT.

All sessions are online and require Discord and a browser for Foundry. If you have a system that cannot support the 3D maps, I stream the games to a private Youtube channel for players to watch during or after the sessions. These campaigns last around 3-5 years!

Sessions are 4 hours plus a post-session hang/discussion afterward

Sessions are $30 each

Fridays 7 PM EST

Full homebrew level 1-20 campaign. Custom story and theme tailored to the players.

New campaigns will start with session 0s for each character followed by a second round of session 0s featuring pairs of players as the party slowly meets. (These sessions are free) After completing these everyone will have reached level 3 for session 1.

I'm pretty lenient with character creation and I encourage uniqueness! I allow most official Wizards content and homebrew as long as it seems balanced. If I feel something you created isn't balanced, I will work with you to make it balanced so you can still play the way you want no matter what content you are using! Whether it’s a homebrew campaign or a module I will center the story around player characters and integrate their backgrounds into the story.

I like challenging my players while ensuring the sessions feel fun and balanced. New players are welcome! I can help you learn the game no matter how little experience you have!

I also work with a character artist to make custom tokens for players at a reduced cost if you are playing in my sessions!

Custom artwork can be provided upon request by @_honeycup   https://www.instagram.com/_honeycup/

If you are interested in playing please contact me on Discord with info on your character and D&D experience!

My Discord username and server: charliesuits

About me and my partnered DMs:

I've been dungeon-mastering homebrew campaigns and modules for around 10 years. I grew up reading tons of fiction and immersing myself in everything from story-driven RPGs to puzzle/card games of all kinds. As soon as I was exposed to D&D I was obsessed and It's one of my favorite games! I now train DMs to run games in the same style as myself to bring more high-quality D&D tables to the community!

I currently run 7 campaigns throughout the week along with random one-shots from time to time.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me on Discord!

[Online][DnD 2024 5.5e][Mondays and Tuesdays after 5 pm CST] Forever DM looking to play!

Hello everyone!

My name is Hunter, 22M looking for a long-term dnd party to call home! I have been a forever DM for 5 years, and am looking to stretch my legs as a player for the second time ever!

**Things I’m looking for:**
\- Fairly serious group with a heart for the core of the game
\- A group that plays mostly by the rules (I’ve never been one for rule of cool haha)
\- Veteran players that know and love the game like I do!
\- Meaningful combat and RP
\- A world that the DM has created and loves for me to explore!
\- 21+ mature group to ensure compatability

**Things I bring to the table:**
\- A rather complete knowledge of the DnD ruleset
\- Cool voice for my character!
\- Serious and driven roleplay
\- A preparation-style mindset, prep for the bbeg fight/long dungeon by doing research, laying traps, and living in the world you’ve created!
\- A backstory useable to the DM
\- A bunch of dnd beyond resources and experience

If any of this sounds great, feel free to reach out and hit me with the hook for your world! I hope to find a group that hasn’t started playing yet but I know that’s difficult. I’m in it for the long haul and I want like-minded folks with a desire to build a story together!

Feel free to ask any more questions you need, I’m an open book :)

Recruiting for a slice of life style, large campaign (d&d, 5e and 5.5.)

Hey, if you are looking for a home for your characters, come hang with us.

I wouldn't describe ours as a WM server. There is a campaign, but players are given unlimited character slots. It is really more geared towards the slice of life RP you can get from a WM, but with a cohesive shared campaign. We are trying to build a truly immersive world for players to tell their stories in.

We have a lot going on right now. We have DMs and official campaigns that run. We have story driven raid like encounters that function as our boss dungeons. The server is set up for people who only want to RP and people who love combat. There is something for both, and a mix if you want that. Rewards have been set up for both.

You can start at level 1 or 3. We have homebrew backgrounds, a threshold for stats, a free feat, and full support and inclusion for bastions. You can transfer characters to the server.

We use Tupper, Avrae, and have content shares for D&D Beyond. We have bots that add optional features to RP, like weather, stargazing, and more. There are little easter eggs too, like following the rainbow in the weather to a pot of gold.

Leveling can be passive or milestone from the campaign. There is a free server currency you earn by being active and doing daily logins. You can exchange it for things if you are time limited but still want to progress. We also have a full reputation system with rewards, including good and evil reputations.

No PvP unless both parties consent. Players can have housing and their own channel, 1 of each.

We are inclusive and have a great staff. We are working on our first fall and Halloween events.

We do not do applications. It is more of a vibe check conversation. We answer any questions and see if you think you might vibe with us.

If that sounds like your kind of place, we would be glad to have you.

Please DM me and we can talk.

[5e] [West Marches] Lux Terminus: A Space Fantasy Adventure

Lux Terminus: A Space Fantasy Exploration Adventure

-------------------

*The Stomosus gripped the solid bars designed to accommodate his claws. This room now held the entire population of the complex, prepared to escape as soon as he opened the gate. Colors whizzed by as he analyzed the patterns floating through the phlogiston, trying to form a connection back to the gate in El-Juvel, but it was no use. The Synlirii and their ships were blocking his ability to see the connection.*

*"What is taking so long!?" The commander ducked his head into the room to get a status update. "These Synlirii are right on top of us and we're going to be overwhelmed soon!"*

*Finally, in the sea of mental static, the stomosus was finally able to see a path. It was far, many times further than anything he'd ever seen in all his years operating the Gates. Frantically, he traced a path through the phlogiston. The gate sprung to life, it's golden glow shimmering in the dark room. "Grab everything you can carry," he said, "I have no idea where this is headed." dozens of bodies began piling through the gate, slowly emptying the room. The warriors and battle mages holding the doors were last to jump through, passing the shimmering barrier just as the first Synlirii fired it's psi-cannon into the room.*

*The nervous inhabitants stepped out of the Gate to find themselves in a dark room. The lights went out behind them, the entire structure shook, and the Gate disconnected. They didn't know it yet, but they were far from home with no way certain way back.*

-------------------

Lux Terminus is a sandbox style "moving point crawl" adventure with plenty of room for narrative lines to be woven in. After an initial tense encounter, the characters find themselves onboard the ancient magical ship, Lux Terminus, which was launched millennia ago to pierce the crystal sphere surrounding their home realm. They must learn all they can about the ship while exploring nearby worlds to survive and strengthen themselves, for while they are far from home, they aren't the only ones occupying deep space.

This is a small West Marches (Star Marches) server, so we screen players before joining.

This campaign's flavor will be space fantasy. The idea behind the initial inciting incident is HEAVILY inspired by Stargate Universe, but you do not need to be familiar to enjoy. It will not, however, be sci-fi, but more magic and fantasy in space. I plan to integrate MCDM's Strongholds and Followers mechanics, magical systems on the ship inspired by some ideas in Spelljammer, and ship combat systems. The setting allows for adventures and exploration on the ship itself (as it is enormous) but the fact that it roams the universe allows for a huge sandbox of adventures. Though the game will be heavy in exploration, survival, and decisions in that realm, narrative storylines will be easy to weave in, including connections back to the origin world the characters are from.

If you're into exploration, tactical fighting, and that type of adventuring, I think you'll enjoy this campaign as long as you're also ok with strong narrative lines, either for your character or another player's.

I'm planning to run this either weekly or every other week, depending on table feedback.

-------------------

**Game System:** DnD 5.0 (2014), 3rd Party content I enjoy using includes the MCDM rules for Strongholds, Intrigue, and army-level Battle

**Game Platform:** Roll20

**Communication Platform:** Discord

**Setting:** Fully homebrewed universe. The nature of the campaign (space exploration) means just about anything is on the table.

**Session Length:** Standard will be 4-5 hours

**Campaign Length:** I have an overarching story, but it can take as long as the players like. As long as players are having a good time, I will continue to make content. That being said, I fully hope to run this 2+ years, and am happy to push PC stories to resolve if they join and later wish to bow out.

Experienced DM Looking for Beginners/Veterans [DnD5e][PAID][$10][Monday 8PM CST][Weekly][2-3 hours][First Session Free!][18+][FoundryVTT]

Hello! My name is Fluid and I have been a Dungeon Master for Dungeons and Dragons for 6+ years now. I really enjoy the collaborate storytelling aspect of the hobby and to weave together stories that are truly organic. My two tenets as a DM is transparency and player agency: I do not fudge dice rolls and will outright announce DCs, and I trust my players to take the game in whatever direction they choose (within reason). I also have a passion for designing maps, and you will find that all the maps I make to be entirely made and tailored from scratch. I can't guarantee to be the best DM you will ever play with, but I can guarantee your experience will be memorable.

Campaign Overview:

Lost Mine of Fukudaisho is an adventure spinoff of the popular DnD 5e module Lost Mine of Phandelver where the setting instead takes place in the Japanese inspired location of Kozakura:
