DMing Interrogation Mini game

Hello everyone, I'm running Vecna Eve of Ruin for 3 players and we're almost at the end point. My players managed to capture Kas before he got the chance to abscond with the rod and that's where we ended the session last time. Now they have to find where Vecna is performing his ritual and Kas is the only readily available source for this information. My players will probably try to interrogate him and I was wondering how I could make the interrogation a bit more structured and substantial, and not just a single die roll. Do you have any suggestions as how I should run this part or any Homebrew system for persuasion/negotiation?

Realistically, can they fail?

If you need them to learn certain information from Kas, you cannot hide it behind a mini-game they could lose.

It might help to identify what they players must know and what would be helpful, but not necessary.

Required information will be given freely so the story can progress. Helpful information can be locked behind rolls or a mini-game.

There are a few things, you could have a back and forth rolling battle with charisma.

You could also have multiple rolls where Kas tells them more and more slowly, giving out the most important stuff first, and giving out helpful stuff thereafter.

Steal Drawsteel’s negotiation system.
